CHAPTER 51
CORINNE
I can feel the sun hitting my bare face. The warmth of the glows it gives, I can almost feel it all over me.
Malibu is far from what I used to in New York.
I wanted cold and wet, Malibu is dry and warm.
But I am just here for a weekend, why would I complain, right?
I open my eyes slowly and I already find where Blaze is.
He’s standing just outside the glass bathroom wearing a navy-blue tuxedo. He looks ethereal, beyond words can ever explain. And once again, I caught him watching me while I sleep.
“What are you doing?”
“Looking at you.”
“Catching feelings, Honey?” I smirks as I start to sat down on the bed, I figured that I am still naked and I see the marks of how brutal and rough last night is.
“Are you okay?” he asked. For a moment I thought I see a glimpse of guilt in his eyes and heard a slight on his tone.
I nod “I am. Why wouldn’t I be?”
He nods “You should get ready; the wedding is about to start in an hour or two.”
I nod “Sure.”
“I’ll just be outside.” He walks towards the door and closed it behind him.
This is the first time both of us ever felt awkward after having s*x, what happened? What shift? Is he just drunk last night?
When I stood up, I saw the things I would use for the wedding, ready. My maid of honor gown is a maroon heart shaped mermaid dress with a long slit on the left side of the legs, it was paired with a white stiletto. I held the dress on the mannequin for a moment. And remembered how beautiful Carina's wedding gown was. I can't help but think that I should be the one in her place, I should be the one with Diesel. I would have been the one to walk for Diesel at the altar. But it was so beyond impossible.
I looked at myself inside the bathroom mirror and I can see all the marks Blaze left me.
But I can’t help but think about last night.
How he manhandled me, how he held me, how he knows the rope inside of me. he knows me too well.
After I finished getting ready, I went outside the room to find him already waiting for me at the living room.
He scans me from up and down, like he wanted to savor me once again.
I clear my throat, we’re supposed to get in the church for thirty minutes. And I know thirty minutes isn’t enough for him to finish.
“We should go.”
He nods “Yeah.”
When we arrived outside the church, there were so many people outside already. Blaze and I didn't even get out of his car and let some guests enter the church first. When the crowd outside subsided, I saw Marcus and Martha standing there as if they were waiting for someone. It's me, I know they are waiting for me for the sake of the image that people will get that we are a strong and happy family. I don't know if I can still be with them, or breathe the same air with them. It makes me want to vomit.
“Stop doing that.” Blaze chimed in.
“Doing what?”
“That—” He points on me nonstop fidgeting with my hands, I thought it might bleed.
He holds my hand and I looked at him, a sudden warmth. A sudden feeling of I am being protected and look after. “You don’t have to be scared, I am with you.”
I nod “I’ll try.” I close my eyes and takes a deep breath.
“What did he ever do to you for you to be scared just like that.” He asked.
Instead of answering him, I close my eyes. I can’t even tell him. Or should I say, I don’t even know how to begin.
“Let’s just go.” He said and I nod, he walks on my side and open the door for me, and he even gave me his hand to hold while we walk closer and closer to the fake parents I have.
They’re already smiling at me, even Marcus. Like he didn’t even try to kill me. f**k this evil, I swear will be given a chance, I will kill him.
“My lovely daughter.” He leans closer to me and kissed my cheeks that made me froze on where I am standing. I can’t even with this guy, I hate him, I wanted his blood on my own hands.
One more thing that I appreciate from Blaze is he didn’t let go of my hands while tis two sharks trying to eat me alive.
I immediately came closer to the warmth of Blaze's body while looking up at the two people who had abused me for several years.
“It’s good to see you.” Martha said.
I just smile curtly “You too, Martha.” I am surprised on my own confidence even if holding Blaze’s hand tightly says the opposite.
I am with him. There’s nothing to be afraid of. He’s with me. I kept thinking on my head.
