Song for this Chapter: Hello-Adele CHAPTER 35 CORINNE I finally caught Hannah alone in our English literacy class, I immediately went to her side and she seems caught off guard when she saw me. Our professor is already lecturing us, that made Hannah clears her throat. What happened to her? “Hey—” I approached. “Hey.” She didn’t looked at me and making it seem like she’s still listening to what our professor is discussing. “Is anything happen last night?” She looks at me with tenderness on her eyes and shake her head “Something happened between me and Blaze last night—” She looks straight ahead “—I know you must think that I betrayed you, but let’s be honest here, Corinne. You and Blaze were just fake dating, right?” I shake my head “No, I don’t care about that, Hannah. You know so hard what’s been bothering me.” “Corinne, he seems genuine and a good person to me—” I scoffed “Can you please say that in front of your Cousin’s grave?” She didn’t answer, she just took a deep breath and I know I am getting on my nerves. “What the hell happened last night, Hannah?” “I just told you something happened, and we both talked that maybe we should made it official.” “He’s just using you, Hannah to get back at—” It’s her time to scoffed at me, as if what I am going to say is absurd. “To get back at you? Really, Corinne? As far as I know, he doesn’t want anything to do with you. He’s just using you for his Father to stop pestering him about your engagement. There, I said it.” I close my eyes and took a deep breath, I know some of our classmates were hearing our exchange right now. “Hannah, you don’t know him—” She suddenly stood up, getting pissed as ever as she looks down at me “Can you please stop? I know you are jealous because your ex-boyfriend is dating me. But I didn't think you would stoop this low. You're going to make him look like s**t to me?" She scoffed again and it seemed as if she was letting almost everyone hear our argument. “You know I am not.” I stood up. “Miss Lewis, Miss Evans? Is everything alright?” Professor Eisen interfere. “Leave us alone, Corinne. Let him go.” She walks out of the room and I am left with the snide look of others student inside. “Sorry.” I mutter to everyone. “Pathetic.” I heard some says. Now, I am the crazy ex-girlfriend. Three weeks. Three weeks have passed since Hannah decides that Blaze matters more than our friendship. Three weeks have passed since my sister didn’t see me even as a human being right now. Three weeks have passed since I forgot my morals and guilt just because I had loved someone like Diesel. Hannah and Blaze seems to be getting cozy and stronger each day, and I am glad that they’re proving to me that what I suspect was wrong, that maybe they really just like each other. And I let my fears take over me to think of the worse of him. The snide and snarky comments were back at the hallways, at least I gained more friends in my art class along with Savannah. I am occupied in class even in lunch break. Carina doesn’t want anything to do with me, if she’s cold and didn’t care about me before, she can be colder than ever right now. Diesel and I, well, we’re fine. We’ve been happy with each other. Diesel planned to get us both away from here as soon as possible because the marriage is coming up in a week or two. We’ve been savoring each other for the meantime. If everything going well, why does my sculpture lack emotions and voids inspiration? Diesel went inside the studio and pecked a tender kiss on my cheeks and I lean on him as he examines the sculpture. “You’re tired?” I nod “Yeah, I can use a very long vacation after this.” I smiled at him. “You deserve it if you want it.” He smiles and kiss my lips this time. He sat down on the couch and starts preparing our dinner. Chinese food for tonight. “Where have you been?” “I bought us dinner.” He shrugs. “I mean, earlier.you’re not in school—” I sighed, I don’t want to feel this but I think I need to asks him. “—and Carina too.” I bow my head. I feel so horrible being so jealous to my own sister, his fiancé. Diesel sighed “We goes to dress fitting for the wedding.” My head snaps at him, a sudden pang of pain in my chest “Wedding?” He nods “Yeah.” “I thought you’re going to—” “I will, Corinne. I will cut of the engagement.” He sounds pissed. “But the wedding is in next week, Die?” He stood up “Just—” He massage his temple in annoyance “—Just give me f*****g time, C.” “I think I’ve given you enough, Die.” “f**k—” he threw all the food he bought on the table that caused me to flinch from my seat. “--can't you wait, C? Why are you in such a hurry to end my engagement with your sister?” “Exactly, Die. Because she’s my f*****g sister. And I feel like the longer we make it go on, the more I hurt her.” “Just leave me alone!” he was about to leave the studio. "You really don't intend to leave her, right?" My tears fell, to be honest I felt it before. I know what Diesel plans to do to me because he knows that whatever he does, he's all I have. And my love for him is greater than anything. He stopped “I—I can’t, C.” “Why?” I sob. “Because I am f*****g scared, for myself and for you. What will happen to us if I ever said no to Havoc?” He didn’t even turn around to look at me. I defy everyone for him, I fight for him. Even my own sister hates me for loving him. Why can’t he do the same to me? “You’re going to make me a mistress and hurt my own sister, Die. That’s what you intend to do since the beginning, aren’t you?” He just bows his head and didn’t answer. I just nod, knowing exactly the answer to that question. “Let’s stop this, Die.” He didn’t look at me, I just sob. “Let’s end it here.” Instead of answering me, he goes out of my studio walking away in the heavy rain outside. He chose. And apparently, it wasn’t me he chose. It’s my sister. I just kept thinking as I cried myself alone in my studio that it is for the best, for everyone to be okay. I let him go, not because I didn’t love him anymore. Because I love him with all my heart that I don’t want him getting a hard time choosing. I still am thankful for the four weeks that I feel his love. Even if it was just a stolen moment between us, at least I felt that he loved me so much. I ended my sister’s suffering in exchange of my happiness. I just wished my conscience makes me sleep at night from now on. “Goodbye, Die.”
