CHAPTER 43
CORINNE
When I reached the rock bottom, I decides to go to Downtown. I tried contemplating if I should just stay on my studio, looking at it from the outside of my own before Safe Haven door, but all I felt is shiver all over my body.
Looking at it, makes me feel that Marcus is in there.
Maybe walking inside that place is my trap, and the worst decision I could ever do in my life, as if walking on my own grave.
He knows this place, he even has his own key. Maybe he’s already there waiting for me or paid somaone to do job.
You know the odd part is?
I have been imagining myself dying so many times, but when I will finally do, I have been struggling so very hard to stay alive.
That is when I realized how I love to live. Even though there’s no livable reason for me to stay alive in this world anymore.
When I reached the motel on Downtown, the only place I know Marcus couldn’t come in public, I didn’t even have the time to look at the place, the surroundings. Because there’s so many eyes lurking in that place ever since I had stepped my foot in the place.
I realized that the more I stay outside, the more I am placing myself in danger. If not by Marcus, by someone else.
I will stay in this motel, and try my very best to be invisible the best I can.
That’s what I’m thinking about when I am about to pay the cashier when a huge hand stopped me from doing so.
At first, I thought it was Marcus, but my heart swell when I looked up at the pair of chocolate brown eyes.
It’s Blaze.
I don’t know but lately, when I saw him watching me, I felt safe. It’s funny because just last week or two days ago, I have been looking at him like he was going to kill me. but it all changed two days ago, when I found out he’s innocent.
Maybe it was because I felt guilty of him or it was just me being so helpless that every time, he’s willing to help me, I have been clinging to that small hope that he will in fact help me big time to the favor, to that specific selfish favor I asked of him.
You see, I am that desperate.
I know I will be going to hurt my friend, Hannah, in that process. That it will never be easy. That it wasn’t just a simple request I had made.
But I did it anyway, because I needed to do it. Because that’s the only thing I can ever think of.
He stopped me, and I am glad he did.
Not being a b***h or prude but I don’t think I can ever stay in that motel.
He told me I can stay with them in the meantime.
I don’t know if it’s a good idea, since Diesel is there. Marcus’ accomplice. I don't know if Marcus told him that I already know all his participation in what happened. Maybe Marcus scared him with the possibility of me telling Blaze what I know and feed him evilness so that Diesel himself will finish what he started. I lose my faith in him, but like I said, I didn't lose my feelings for him. Reduced, yes. Maybe because of the disappointment that my heart brought to what I found out. But to say that, I don't feel anything for him anymore, he should have known better.
So, here goes nothing.
I stay with them. Blaze let me have the far end guestroom near his bedroom, I feel safe knowing that he was just close. Diesel is on the first door on that hallway.
The room is how like Blaze’s room big is. But it lacks other things like a sign of someone is staying in this room. A guess this was supposed to be a guestroom.
I fell asleep that night peacefully, surprisingly. After they’re butler called out on me for me to have dinner, I didn’t see Blaze, Diesel nor Havoc.
He Butler told me from what I gathered that the kitchen was very rarely used since Blaze’s mother died.
He looks comfortable to talk to, he’s in his fifties, I guess. He’s smiling every time. And I figured he’s name is Ben.
He even told me and along with the mansion’s chef and staff that they were glad that someone here is going to used them for they’re job. Everyone in the mansion is friendly and cozy. Not what I expected from the family.
After a couple of hours of chitchatting with them, Blaze came home, drenched in rain. And all I can see how fine his abs were, see through in his white soak shirt.
Go, I have to stop.
He looks at me for a second, wanting to eat what is on the table, everyone goes silent and bow they’re head for him, but he didn’t greet them at all. f*****g asshole.
Alright, I should stop, that asshole let me stay in here. I don’t want to pissed the angry god and have him kick me out.
This morning, the faint sun rays hit my face and I have to slowly open my eyes for the open window to greet me with a rain outside. I smile.
This is the first time I ever smile genuinely for the past couple of days.
Why do I seem felt at home in here instantly?
A knock on my door got me looked at it “Miss Corinne?”
It’s Ben.
“Yes, Ben?”
“Master Havoc wants you in his office now. if you are ready.”
Havoc.
He already knows I am here.
“Yeah, for a minute.” I rummage my paper bag for a decent clothe to meet the Mafia King.
Please don’t let him bring me back to Marcus, that’s what all I can think about every step I take while Ben is guiding me all throughout the place from where Havoc’s office is.
When Ben opened the door, Havoc is already standing on the corner of the room and a book on his hand. He closed it and smiled at me. I smiled at him too.
But from there, I don’t know what happened anymore, he showed me a father figure or how to have a real father feels like.
Then, I told him everything.
