Everyone stood up and bowed. It is the first time since the beginning of the new world that the son of the Sun has appeared. Luna stood up and extended her hand toward Kira. “My name is Luna Almazan. I have been blessed by the power of Mayari. I am named the daughter of the moon. It is indeed a pleasure to finally meet you.” Luna smiled. “I am Kira Brown. I have received your invitation. My mother had been a strong believer in the god and goddess. I am honored to be worthy of Apolaki’s blessing.” Kira smiled back It was a better turn of events from the mishap of Vian’s gender. Cora’s tears flowed down her cheeks. Kira doesn’t know if he should approach his Mom to take Luna’s hand. But Cora grabbed both of his hands and placed them in Luna’s. “I am humbled to be blessed by a son like him. Please take good care of him for me, my princess.” Cora said tearfully. Luna placed her other hand on top of theirs. “I promise to fulfill the wishes of the gods.” They all smiled. But just as the happiness of the event seeps into everyone, the ground rumbles, and thunders started roaring. The sky darkens with black clouds as lightning strikes throughout. A strong wind blew that made everyone cover their eyes. Tables came flying and the plants around them are swinging. When the wind toned down, a giant serpent-like creature is floating among the clouds. Its scales are black and it has two long horns on its head. Its fins are standing straight from its neck all the way down to its tail. It stopped on top of them and roared. “I am the Great Bakunawa. Foolish humans, you will never see your rebirth. I will devour the moon and all mankind shall perish in the fire of the burning sun!” the creature said in a voice that was sent directly into everyone’s head. People screamed when the serpent dove down toward them. It opens its mouth to raven the people on its way. Kira and the other men started hitting the serpent to keep them away from others. Luna shot balls of light at the Bakunawa which made it cry in pain. Vian called upon the winds and trees to send sharp leaves between the scales of the Bakunawa to inflict damage. It keeps snapping at them before it wriggled away from the hands of the men and floated in the sky. The Bakunawa formed a bright light from its mouth and directed it towards them. Luna countered it with her own light. When the two lights crashed at each other in the middle, it exploded. The Bakunawa took the explosion as an opportunity to attack. It dove down towards Luna but Kira run in front of her to stop the serpent. But instead of smashing into him, the Bakuna entered Kira’s body. “Kira!” Vian shouted. Kira tried to stop the serpent from dissolving its body but the process of it entering his body is giving him so much pain and slashed his hand from its scales. Vian tried to catch its tail before completely disappearing into Kira’s body, but she didn’t make it. Kira’s head dropped down as he remained standing and not moving. Vian tried to touch him, but his hand moved and circled around Vian’s throat, blocking the air from her lungs. His head is still hanging unconsciously but his strength is unquestionable. “Vian!” Luna run towards them and sent flying lights to hit Kira. Sol came running and slid down his legs to trip Kira. This made Kira lose his balance and let go of Vian. Sol caught her in time but she is already blue in color and unconscious. He immediately runs out of the way. Luna is charging her light ball with more energy making it bigger and bigger. She waited for Sol to be in a safe distance before throwing it towards Kira. The bright light engulfs Kira. He didn’t even try to escape. Cora’s scream for her child echoed throughout the night. When the light subsides, Kira is lying unconscious on the ground. Cora and Luna immediately run toward him. “Kira. Kira. Please open your eyes.” Cora is slightly tapping his son’s face. As he is not responding, she started to hug his head, scared that she will lose her son. “I call upon the power of the moon and sun. Heal this child and keep him from harm.” Luna held Kira’s hand as she whispered her prayer. Green light from her hand traveled toward Kira's body. He eructed black smoke from his mouth, and then his breathing stabilizes and the color started to come back. They all sighed in relief. Some guests are crying and calling out to their companions. Vian and Kira were taken into the infirmary while the others were given medicine and assistance. A lot of the guests were hurt by the flying tables and branches of trees but no one was gravely injured. Luna and Sol took their rest in the living room. The events of the night are still replaying in Sol’s mind. Questions keep piling up, but he knows that he has no idea how to answer them. He had been directing people during the fight to make sure they would not be hurt. Two of the guards have been eaten by the Bakunawa. They were protecting children during the first attack. “What would happen now? Did we really defeat the Bakunawa? I don’t think it should be that easy.” Sol said as he looked at the Almazans and their staff. “At least we drove it away for now. Once Kira and Vian recovered, we should start understanding Mayari’s prophecy.” Luna said. She looked at Sol and then at her parents. She is the daughter of the Moon. Mayari had given her the power to protect and heal everyone in this new world. The goddess trusted her to bless the land with the warmth of the moon. She will keep everyone she loves safe, even if it takes her the life that she had.
