Lucifer has been a light bearer before he was occupying that office was stripped of his light and reduced to the Lowest Volume of Eternal Damnation (LVED) and was cast down from heaven into the earth where he lived in darkness. Since he was living in darkness without any form of light, his divine nature now becomes Devil, which is simply the opposite of LIVED when spelt from the realm of the spirit.
