What you thought you have lost is deep down knocking at the door of your heart to come in, but you are so hurt with the pains of humiliations and disappointments from loved ones, such that the thoughts have now become horrendous noise that is now preventing you to hear the sound of His knock, even when most at times, His voice comes, but in stillness.
