CHAPTER 5. FRANK’S SECRETS
Alex was sitting in his apartment, which was cluttered with boxes of papers and old books, when the phone suddenly rang. The sound reverberated shockingly loud in the silence he called his “clarity zone,” cultivated after many days fighting off alcohol. An unfamiliar number flashed on the screen. He picked up, and an official voice spoke:
“Mr. Alex, we’re glad we finally reached you. I represent a law firm dealing with your grandfather’s inheritance… It turns out that he was the very lawyer mentioned in the letter—another figure nobody had known about before.”
