I clicked the screen off and lowered the phone when the waitress arrived to take our order. Suzy ordered whatever sandwich she wanted, and I ordered a steak with a side of disappointment.
“Okay. You got to cut it out with this weird atmosphere. If you don’t-”
“No. No,” I intervened. “I want to be here.” Correction. I have to be here to make sure the rest of the year is smooth sailing.
