CHAPTER2

THEIA “Kill them.” Before the words could leave Alpha Loran’s lips completely, his soldiers rushed into the room and attacked everyone they could. I hadn’t found my footing yet when one wolf jumped at me and pushed me against the floor, snapping its teeth at me as I held it by the snout and pushed it away so that it wouldn’t bite and kill me. It was unfortunate, being caught in chaos like this as an Omega. Unable to hold the wolf off much longer, my hand weakened for a split second, which was enough time for the wolf to graze its fangs against my arm and drawing blood. The sharp pain caused me to yelp and throw a punch which didn’t make much difference to the wolf. The wolf was pulled off of me, and I took a deep breath, sitting up as I saw my mate ripping the wolf apart. He turned to look at me, the color of his eyes shifting between blue and gold as he was on the verge of shifting. “Get out! Run!” He commanded me, his voice guttural and untamed. I got off the floor and started to rush through the exit, but the wolves blocked the exit, and they would not hesitate to tear me apart if I attempted to move past them. I turned around to look at my mate, who was now directly in front of me. He grabbed me by the hand and led me to the exit, fighting off the wolves at the door to make it easy for me to escape. “Go! Find somewhere to hide!” He said to me, finally clearing the way and pushing me out the door. I gasped as three wolves attacked him all at once. “No!” I yelled, running back to see if I could render any help, not minding the level of my strength. He couldn’t die. “GO BACK!” His voice rang in my head and vibrated through my body. In that moment, I could tell that he was an Alpha because of the tone he used to command me and how my body was forced to obey his words – a power that only Alphas blessed by the Moon Goddess possessed. I turned around against my will and ran as fast as my legs would allow. I couldn’t bring myself to stop, even if I wanted to, and my heart was pounding against my chest. I managed to slow my heart down as I got into the woods and far away from where the ambush was going on. There was no specific place for me to hide, and I couldn’t go into the pack just in case it was being attacked by Alpha Loran’s soldiers as well. Just as I was contemplating my next move, I heard the snap of a twig, and I fell against my back as a wolf attacked me from the shadows. I should have known that some of them would be in the woods, waiting for anyone who managed to escape the pack ambush. I screamed on top of my lungs as the wolf bit into my arm and another emerged from the bushes and swiped at my face with its claws. “HELP!” I called out loud, trying my hardest to fight them off. My body only got weaker and weaker with each swipe of their claws. The pain got so intense that I could feel the injuries everywhere they were. My right leg, my left arm, both of my shoulders, my chest. I could even differentiate between which ones were claws and which ones were caused by teeth. The wolves retreated into the woods, and I heard the pads of their paws against the floor fade until I couldn’t hear them anymore. They had left me there to die. With the little bit of strength I could muster, I sat up with pained groans and hisses. I threw myself against a wall, whimpering in agony as I forced myself to get off the floor. Finally managing to stand up, I hoisted myself against the tree, using my hands to cover up the deeper wounds, which were bleeding more profusely than the others. I tore a part of my dress and tied it around my bitten leg as I stumbled forward. My vision was starting to lose clarity, and I could almost tell how long it would take for me to go unconscious. “Help,” I croaked helplessly, finding the nearest trees which could support me and leaning against them as I moved forward. I could not afford to slump. Not then, and most definitely not there. I would bleed out and die. I couldn’t die just yet. I considered turning back and returning to the pack, where I would find people, but the Alpha-toned order of my mate rang loudly in my head, causing a splitting migraine as soon as I turned around. I gasped and paused when I heard the sounds of footsteps behind me. They didn’t sound like the paws of wolves. Perhaps, there was someone out there who could help me. “Help. Somebody.” My vision went black for a moment, and I got lightheaded. I weakly leaned against a tree, panting and weakly calling for help from whoever was out there. The footsteps got louder and closer, until I heard them right in front of me. I opened my eyes, but my vision was too hazy and blurry to make out who was standing in front of me. Before I knew it, a dull pain shot through my skull as though I had been hit by something heavy. My eyes rolled far back into my head as my exhausted body crumbled to the ground and I couldn’t hear anything at all. ~~~ My eyes fluttered open, and I regretted opening them immediately. The light filtered into my head, causing an extreme migraine. I slowly looked towards the window, where I saw someone moving. My breath got caught in my throat as I watched my mate walking towards me, his hands in his pockets and his stance relaxed. I breathed a sigh of relief at the realization that he was alive after everything that had happened. “How are you feeling?” He enquired, helping me sit up and handing me a pill and a glass of water from the bedside table. I took the medicine and chugged down the water until the cup ran empty. I took a deep breath, looking around at the plain room. “How did you find me?” I questioned. “I traced your scent. Luckily, I got to you before you were captured by a rogue. He had knocked you unconscious,” he explained. “Thank you,” I smiled gratefully. “You shouldn’t thank me,” he said. “Is this your pack?” I questioned, looking around and noting the differences between the design choices of this room and that of all the other rooms back in my pack, Silvercrest. “Yes. I’m Alpha Arlen, and this is my territory, Blackmoon Pack.” My blood ran cold at the mention of his familiar name. Back in Silvercrest Pack, there would always be talks about great Alphas and their strengths – and I had heard about Alpha Arlen. People said a lot about Alpha Arlen of Blackmoon, but there was only a few that stuck; a man with an uncontrollable temper. He hated vampires with his entire being, but there were people he hated more than he hated vampires, Omegas.
