Chapter 13

Alright, alright, you're lucky I fell asleep in the living room or nobody would have answered. Let me go tell my parents and leave them a note." Devon stated before closing the door to get his things and change his clothes. The car ride back to the hospital was tense and silent. Before John could park the car, Ken leaped out and ran inside to let the nurse know they had brought Devon back with them. Exhausted, Ken slumped down into the chair next to Mary. John entered the hospital with Devon and went with him to see if he needed anything before they started, or if he wanted him to stay. "I just ask to meet the person who I saved when she recovers." Devon stated. " That can definitely be done!" John said, his hope returning.

"It's been 9 hours since they started '' Kyle groaned impatiently. Finally, the "in Surgery '' light turned off and the doctor stepped out with his clipboard. "The surgery has been completed, we need to keep her isolated to make sure her wounds don't get infected." The doctor stated after taking a deep breath. "When can I see her??" Ken asked excitedly. " She should be able to move to a normal room tomorrow evening, that would be the soonest if there are no additional complications. " The doctor answered. "Can someone please explain to me how she got into this situation when the three of you are unharmed and this late at night." The doctor asked.

Kyle, Eric, and Ken opened their mouths to answer but nothing came out. They couldn't quite figure out how to explain it. " She had severe claw marks across her face, down her neck, her chest was punctured and her ribs collapsed, just missing her heart. There are werewolf bites on her arms and legs with chunks missing. I don't even understand how you brought her to me still alive." The doctor stated in disbelief. Alpha John took the doctor aside to answer his questions. " You three boys need to go thank Mr. Connors for his assistance, then headed home for showers and some sleep. I'll stay here until you get back. Please remember to eat before coming back or you won't see her. '' Mary said in her stern loving tone.

The boys woke up from their sleep each in a different part of Eliza's room. Ken slept on her bed, Eric on the couch, and Kyle in her mountain of stuffed animals. They got in the shower to wash up and stopped by the cafe to pick up food as they headed back to the hospital. Ken gave his mom a kiss and handed her a hot coffee and her favorite blueberry muffin. "What are you trying to bribe me for now, young man?" Mary asked Ken. " I just wanted to thank you for being the best mom and staying here so we could get some rest. " Ken answered with a smile. "The doctor said she can have one visitor at a time in an hour, she is still unconscious, but they don't want to stress her out. John started walking back from checking on Devon. "Kyle, you should go first, she is most familiar and comfortable with you now." Ken said sadly.

When it was time, Kyle had entered the room to see Eliza. She lay there unconscious, bandages wrapped around her face, across her neck, down both arms and legs, and a giant bandage covering her chest and stomach. Kyle just looked at her with sadness in his eyes. A tear fell from him and landed on Eliza's face, which made her twitch. Kyle wanted to kiss her, touch her, or hold her and tell her everything was okay, but he couldn't. He didn't know what was under the bandages and didn't want to hurt her further. "Why couldn't it be me lying here?" Kyle muttered under his breath. Eric came in for his turn since they were only allowed 5 minutes each. Kyle left unable to look up. Eric, as the same, just watched Eliza sadly until Ken entered. Eric pat Ken on his shoulder as he left. Ken hesitated to look up at Eliza, when he heard something moving. Ken looked up, his tear-filled eyes met Eliza's beautiful ruby-red eyes. "Eliza. You're awake!" Ken exclaimed. Eliza looked at Ken, her eyes flashing between light and dark red as she kept fading out.

Eliza's eyes settled on light red until she mind linked to him. "Future Alpha Ken," Tia voiced. Ken's eyes grew wide as she finally put down the block. " We died. How are we still here? And why did we see another much smaller and younger you, named Rex, turn into a giant golden dragon?" Tia asked, confused. "Oh, that would be the answer to your first question, about how you came back." Ken hesitated. Tia scoffed inside Ken's head as she lost consciousness. Ken leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her head. " Rest well and recover soon", Ken whispered as he stood back straight and left the room.

A week passed, Eliza was still unconscious in the hospital. Devon took a day of recovery from donating so much blood to Eliza. Kyle and Eric were getting closer to Devon and helping him settle in. "Is that girl still in the hospital?" Devon asked. "Yes, she has yet to wake up or respond to anything yet" Kyle replied sadly. " You guys are going to see her after school today, right? Can I tag along?" Devon asked. Kyle smiled and nodded his head. " Of course, you're the only reason she is still alive," Eric answered. After school, the three headed to the hospital to visit Eliza.

"Oh man, why is she so bandaged? Is her wolf not healing her?" Devon asked. "Her wounds were quite severe, she shouldn't have even made it to the hospital alive based on the degree of injury. " The doctor said as he walked in to check her vitals. "Any idea when she might wake up? " Kyle asked. "There has never been a case this severe, I still don't understand how she got so injured. She looked like she just fought for her life when you brought her in. But you say this was from a nightmare she couldn't wake up from?" The doctor inquired. "That sounds awful, I wouldn't want to wake up either if I experienced something like that." Devon started feeling empathy for her.

A soft knock came on the front door. Alice ran to the door to open it. Seeing who was at the door, she smiled, jumped on him and gave him a kiss. Her arms were around his neck, and her legs wrapped around his muscular chest. Their lips were locked, he started deepening the kiss as he walked inside with her on him. Sliding his tongue into her mouth and tasting her as he walked towards her room. Alice let a soft moan escape her lips as she tried to nibble on his lower lip. As he sat down on her bed, Alice stopped the kissing and stood up. "So, how'd it go? Did you complete the task I gave you?" Alice asked in a demanding tone. "Yes, it was a complete success, nobody would notice anything. " He replied. Alice lay down on her back on her bed. " Now, as promised, I'll let you play with my chest. Hands only and no looking." Alice said, sliding his hands up her shirt.
