Chapter 15

Kyle was more of a night person, so he would watch Eliza at night, and Eric would take mornings. They both got permission to take a leave of absence due to the circumstances, as long as they still turned in their work on time. Kyle just sat beside Eliza, quietly watching over her. "Kyle…" he heard his name being called, he looked around but didn't see anyone. "You i***t, it's me Tia." She scolded him. "Oh, right, how are you?" He mind liked back.

" She's not doing so well. The wolf's bane is strong, it's hindering my abilities. Can you please lie with us so Thomas can help me?" Tia continued until the link shut off and she was unresponsive again. Kyle did as he was asked, he carefully slipped into the bed and moved Eliza to make sure she was in a comfortable position. Eliza's body felt ice cold, which scared Kyle. He quickly removed his clothes and pulled her tighter against him, trying to warm her up. The doctor looked at Kyle strangely as he was about to pass but stopped. Kyle explained about her request and her body being ice cold. The doctor rushed over to take her temperature. As soon as the doctor felt her wrist, he realized she was colder than a corpse.

A nurse came into the room shortly after the doctor had left. She came with an electric blanket and an extra bag of saline. " The doctor wanted me to bring a warm blanket and an extra bag of saline so I can use the drip to get the wolfsbane out faster." The nurse explained. Kyle glared at her for a minute. Seeing as she wasn't wavering, he decided she wouldn't be a threat. He bundled Eliza up and held her close until he fell asleep. As the sun rose, Eric walked in, waking up to Kyle confused. As soon as Eric got within 5 feet, Kyle's eyes shot open and he was alert. Realizing it was Eric, Kyle relaxed. Seeing the weird expression on Eric's face, he explained her request and her temperature was still ice cold. Hearing what had happened, Eric too stripped of his clothes and got into bed with Eliza when Kyle got up. A few words were exchanged as they changed guards and Kyle headed home to eat, shower, and rest before his next shift.

As the days passed by, Eric and Kyle traded guard shifts. Devon stopped by a few times after school to check in on her. Ken stopped by every day after he had finished spending time with Alice. A week passed and Eliza's parents were on their way back from the border. As soon as Damien and June got back they went straight to the hospital. June immediately ran into Eliza's room, while Damien stopped to talk to the doctor about next steps. June was shocked to see both Eric and Kyle with Eliza. They both excused themselves and stepped outside so Eliza and June could be alone.

June sat in the chair next to the bed and took Eliza's hand in hers. The first thing she noticed was Eliza's ice-cold skin, which caused her to shriek in fear. Both Kyle and Eric bolted back into the room to see what happened. June sat there with a grim expression holding Eliza's hand in hers, tears pouring down her face. "Is…. Is….. is she….." June started stammering. Kyle rushed to June and rubbed her back lightly. "It's okay, she is okay, she is Alive. '' Kyle assured her and pointed at the beeping machines. Seeing June was okay again, both Kyle and Eric stepped out.

"I am so sorry my little baby, I should have been there for you. I've failed. " June cried, her tear drops falling on Eliza's hand. "M..m..om..mom.." June heard a low whisper. She turned to look at Eliza and started to see her Beautiful Ruby Red Eyes. "Oh my baby! Have you finally woken up", June cried in relief. Eliza lifted her hand and wiped away her tears. "Don't cry… mom… you are beautiful… when you smile….." Eliza stammered. " Damien come here, our baby is awake" June mind links her husband. Damien grabs the doctor by the arm and starts to rush to the room. The doctor, seeing Eliza awake, finally sighed in relief. She was perfectly healthy now, so he didn't know what was keeping her unconscious. June noticed Kyle trying to peek in. " Come here boys," June says. "Ooohhh you did it now" Eric. Snickers at Kyle as they enter.

Eliza's eyes darted towards Kyle and a sweet smile formed on her lips. She reached out her other hand for him to come over. Eliza tugged on Kyle's hand to get him to bend down. As soon as he was low enough Eliza leaned up and kissed him. "Thank you, she whispered as she leaned back. After checking the charts and looking Eliza over, the doctor was pleased. "She could be discharged today, but I recommend staying at least another day for observation since she just woke up. They all looked at Eliza to see what she wanted. "Dad, if we go home can Kyle and Eric stay with me?" Eliza asked. Shocked by the sudden question, Damien looked at both boys up and down, trying to discern what was happening. "If it helps my princess recover faster, I will not get in the way." Damien responded, giving both boys a cold look.

Once they got to the Beta's quarters, Kyle carried Eliza in and took her straight to her bed. Although she was discharged, they all demanded she stay in bed for a couple days to make sure everything was really okay. Ken took longer than expected to manage to leave Alice, so he rushed to the hospital to check on Eliza. He stopped when he saw Devon leaving. "How is she?" Ken asked Devon. "Apparently she woke up and was discharged this afternoon." Devon replied.

After parting ways with Ken, Devon headed towards Alice's. Alice answered the door wearing a long shirt that barely covered her butt. Excited to see Devon, she leaned in for a kiss but he stopped her. "What was really in the solution you had me add to her IV?" Devon asked in an angered tone. " I told you, it was a solution that would make her sleep longer " Alice replied like it was nothing.

"So, you're not going to admit you had me Poison her with Wolfsbane??" Kyle asked. " Oh. If that's your question, then yes, I gave you wolfsbane to get rid of Eliza." She responded in a chipper tone. " You never said you were going to poison her and kill her!" Devon was enraged. "Oh calm down you big baby, you won't get caught." Alice responded. Devon had heard enough and he just stormed out of Alice's and went for a walk.

Ken tried to stop by to see Eliza, but her parents instantly refused. “She just got discharged. Eliza doesn't need any added stress caused by you.” Damien said sternly to Ken. Dejected, Ken agreed and headed towards the Alpha quarters to report to his dad before heading to his room. After a quick shower, Ken fell onto his bed and cuddled with Eliza’s bear. Taking in what bit of her scent was still there before falling asleep.

The next morning Eliza woke up to Kyle and Eric bringing her breakfast on a tray. While she was quietly eating, the boys were picking out a movie for them to watch. “How about we all just staying in bed and watching a movie marathon?” Kyle suggested. Eliza nodded happily as she finished her breakfast. Eliza spent the rest of the weekend resting and getting ready to go back to school. Damien and June tried to convince her to spend a week at home to fully recover.
