4 I Am Alone

After a long while, Megan was eventually too exhausted and fell asleep in Ivan's arms. Ivan hugged Megan gently while caressing her long hair. He was still immersed in the amazing and sweet experience that happened just now. After quite a while, he suddenly thought of something. When did her hair become straight? She seemed to have curly hair before. Maybe she changed her hairstyle. And what happened to the necklace she always wore? Why didn't she wear that? Was she not Stacy? Ivan suddenly thought, but soon he shook his head slightly and got rid of this idea. He was a blind man now. Who else would marry him except his childhood sweetheart Stacy? Thinking of all these, he felt sad but warm. The night was quiet. Listening to his little bride's breathing, Ivan felt comforted. He gradually fell asleep. Bang! Someone suddenly kicked the door open in the early morning, breaking the tranquillity and warmth. Ivan immediately covered Megan with the quilt as he propped himself up. "Congratulations, my dear cousin. I heard your wife was beautiful," it was Jason, another cousin of Ivan. "Thanks," Ivan answered coldly. "You don't have to thank me. It was just a courtesy," Jason eyed his guards as he said. One of the guards took off his own coat and placed it on the dusty chair so Jason could sit down. "Do you know why I am here though?" Jason asked with a nasty smile on his face. "I don't know why. Neither do I care," Ivan said indifferently, "You have always been a foul creature, Jason. We both know that I don't expect much from you." Jason let out a laugh before he stood up and approached Ivan in a leisurely manner. "Well, this time, it's actually not about me," Jason loomed over Ivan with a smug smile on his face, "I'm here to inform you that your beloved grandpa just died a couple of hours ago. He died of a heart attack." Ivan went dumbfounded as he heard his blood pumping in his ears, "What? What did you say?" "I thought you were only blind. I didn't know you're also deaf. I said the old man had kicked the bucket. No one in this family will protect you anymore, you piece of shit." Jason laughed evilly. Ivan grasped his collar, eyes red, "Impossible." He used so much strength that even his knuckles became pale. Jason laughed, getting rid of Ivan's grip and said cruelly, "I saw his body in the mortuary. The funeral will be held two days later. Pitifully, you're not qualified to be there." “How did grandpa die? Did you kill him?!” Ivan was so furious and desperate. He clenched his teeth as he threw his fist at Jason. But Jason’s bodyguards rushed to stop him together. After a while, he was thrown onto the floor with a thud. The next minute he realized, Jason's shoe was on his fingers, grinding. "How could he die? He couldn't be dead!" Ivan growled. The pain in his heart had already overwhelmed the pain in his fingers. Ivan lost his parents when he was still young and grandpa was his only family. Jason bent a little as he smiled viciously, "The old man died because his precious Ivan became blind, turning out to be a failure. Why don't you just kill yourself for breaking his old heart?" Megan woke up by the noise, she felt limp and tired. But seeing that Jason was hurting Ivan, she instantly jumped off the bed with her night-grown, trying to push Jason away. Jason whistled as he shamelessly ogled on Megan's body, "Damn, Ivan. You did marry a hot piece of ass. How about being my mistress, little beauty?" Megan glared at him, trying to hit his nerve ending with her medical skill. However, before she could do anything, Jason grabbed her arm, dragged her up and smiled viciously, “Take off your clothes. If you serve me well, I will consider letting go of your loser husband.” “Leave her alone!” Ivan growled, trying to fight back. However, he was then pinioned by several bodyguards. Seeing that, Megan immediately hit Jason with her other hand. “How dare you, b***h!”Jason pushed Megan hard onto the ground, giving the bodyguards an order, “Teach them a lesson.” Then the bodyguards started to hit and kick Ivan. Megan rushed towards him right away, wrapping him in her arms. But Ivan removed her arms and hugged her tightly instead. Ivan bore almost all the beat and kick, protecting Megan. At this moment, Jason’s phone rang. ... After hanging up the phone, he said evilly, “I will leave you and your wife alone if you give me what I want. Think about it, my dear cousin.” He stomped his shiny shoes against the wooden floor as if trying to shake off the dust, "Now, excuse me because I've got the Hendrix gold to succeed. You two can keep enjoying your cozy shaky bed while rotting in this shithole." Megan immediately helped Ivan up, caressing his hands while fixing her furious glare on that douchebag Jason. Before Jason left the room, he turned to the middle-aged maid by the door, "May, make sure you ‘take care of’ my cousin and his lovely wife very well and remember who pays your salary now." "Yes, Mr. Hendrix," the maid answered with a flattering smile on her face. Jason left the house with a sense of triumph. Ivan's knuckles were bruised and wounded after what Jason had done. There must be more bruises on his arms and back. May slammed the door close and left as well, pretending she didn't see anything. Megan took her husband's wounded hands, heartbroken. Those bastards! Oh, my poor Ivan. Fetching her medical kit, Megan cleaned Ivan's wounds and applied ointment on them. However, Ivan just sat there blankly and lifelessly as if his soul had vanished. Megan had heard what Jason said. She knew how important Ivan's grandpa was to him. He was Ivan's only family and also the one who loved him most. Her poor husband must be undergoing so much pain right now. Megan knew that kind of feeling. She had once lost her mother. Megan was crying silently all the time as she bandaged him. She wished she could say something to make him feel better, but she couldn't. She then gave Ivan a warm hug. Ivan was finally pulled back from his own thought as he said to Megan sorrowfully, “Honey, I lost my grandpa. I am all alone...” He looked so pale and vulnerable. Megan hugged him tighter, wishing that she could share her own body warmth and power with him. You still have me. I will always be with you. I will never leave you. Megan held his hand and pressed her lips against his hand gently. Accidentally, she felt his pulse. It was steady and strong. Megan knew how to heal since she was a child. She learned everything from her grandparents. Judging from Ivan's pulse, she could tell that his blindness was just temporary. He could still recover if he let her give him treatments. Megan's chest was filled with joy instantly. This was magnificent! She could make Ivan see again! Her heart was pounding so fast. She wished she could shout the good news in his ear but all she could do was to shake his arm gently. He felt the tension from the touch of her hands, “I know, I still have you, babe. Thank you...” Ivan, I can cure you. I can! Megan shook his arms again. “Do you have something else to tell me?” Megan pressed his hand against her face and nodded anxiously. Ivan frowned for a while before he asked, ''Do you have a phone?'' Megan nodded again. Ivan grabbed a piece of paper and wrote a phone number on it, ''Could you call this number for me, honey? This man will help us. Just put me on the phone when he picked up.'' Megan did as he said and put the phone against Ivan's ear. ''Hello, Cody, it's me'' Ivan's voice was deep and soothing. ''Sir?'' Cody was surprised to hear from his boss again, ''Where are you? Where did you get the phone?'' ''I'm in the old house at the moment.'' ''Okay… Just wait for me there. I'm on my way!'' Giving the phone back to Megan, Ivan explained to his bride gently, ''This man used to be my assistant. We can trust him.'' Cody arrived at the house soon. He looked young with a pair of glasses on his nose. He cried when he saw Ivan, ''Sir, your grandpa passed away…'' ''I've known it from someone else,'' as grief as Ivan had been, he tried to be calm at the moment, ''Just take a seat first.'' Cody sniffed as he grabbed a chair from the corner. Megan handed him a tissue. “Thank you,” Cody said, but then his motion stopped as he saw Megan. He knew Ivan got married today and he also knew who was the bride. This beautiful girl before him was not Stacy Dunn at all! Noticing the surprised look on the man's face, Megan pressed a finger against her lips and shook her head. Cody had known Stacy but not her. She knew Cody had already realized that she was a substitute. But Megan couldn't let Ivan know now. So she hoped Cody could keep her secret. As suspicious as he was, Cody still decided he would keep the secret for this girl. If she meant any harm, she would not help Ivan to call him. Ivan was sitting on a chair right now. The deep sorrow on his handsome face had gone, ''Cody, my wife has something to tell me. Could you let her write down whatever she wanted to say and read it for me?'' Megan had already prepared a pen and a piece of paper. She wrote down a couple of sentences and gave the paper to Cody. Cody's eyes were lit up as he saw those words, ''Sir! Great news! Mrs. Hendrix just said she knew how to heal and she could make you see again!'' Ivan went frozen for a second before a wide smile broke his face, hugging Megan, “Sweetie, you are really a miracle to me.”
