Authors POV Enthusiasm lingered in the air, mild laughter, giggles and soft music could be heard in the background and people's faces flushed with excitement. The vast grand hall was adorned with diverse interior designs, with shimmering fairy lights placed in each corner. The vaulted ceiling featured elegant golden chandeliers that cast a cool glow. A long red carpet ran from the entrance to the stage, while guests hurried to find their seats. In the background, soft, sophisticated music mingled with light chatter, laughter, and the sound of clinking glasses. Men wore sharp suits, and women dazzled in beautiful silk gowns, accessorized with sparkling jewels. It was the birthday of the famous Lycan twins, – Jared and Jayden. The aroma of palatable cuisines lingered in the air and people from different packs came to attend the function as well. Jared and Jayden were impeccably dressed in sophisticated sleek suits. The sight of them in that professional attire made so many girls drool but they knew fully well that they belonged to someone else — Hilary, the daughter of Alpha Malachi. . Jared and Jayden were the sons of Alpha Gerald. Alpha Gerald is the greatest Lycan of all times with his Pack being the largest and most famous in the werewolf world. After the great war between Lycans and werewolves, both species have been living as enemies and we're hardly friends. However, since Alpha Gerald twin's were mated to a werewolf, the lady Hilary, from Black moon pack, there's been reconciliation since then. The old sorceress from Black Moon pack disclosed the truth about Hilary being the fated mate for Alpha Gerald's twins and how her relationship with them will strengthen the pack and grant the twins more power. This new discovery made Alpha Gerald pleased and he didn't hesitate to become friends with the Alpha of Black moon pack, Alpha Malachi. Since his daughter would be the ideal mate for his twins, he linked them up so they could get closer to each other. The twins could smell Hilary as their mate and they've been together for months. Once the twins celebrate their twenty-first birthday, they'll be getting married to her two days after. Alpha Malachi was the first werewolf to ever win the heart of Alpha Gerald. Due to their union, Alpha Malachi received support from Alpha Gerald as well as some gifts and resources to strengthen his pack. It has always been a dream for most Alphas in the werewolf community to be friends with the great Lycan, Alpha Gerald. A forced grin tugged at Alpha Malachi's lips as he cast a glance at the gigantic Marino Empire which towered over the other buildings beside it. It's the hall where the function is being held. One of the greatest halls in the werewolf community and it belonged to the great Alpha Gerald. Parts of the building had gold plaster applied to them, and the walls were composed of sturdy glass. The courtyard was lined with posh, expensive cars, and there were uniformed guards stationed at strategic locations like statues. The entire place screamed wealth as only highly reputable people visited it.. Together, the Black Moon royal family made our way into the opulent hall as confidently as possible. Hilary kept walking at a slow pace on the red carpet, careful not to trip on her three-inch black stilettos. Vibrant lights bathed the entrance in a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of colors, reflecting the pulsating energy that emanated from within. Live music instantly spilled through the silent hallway and they darted their eyes at every smiling face in the hall. “Come on! Put up a smile on that face.” Sabrina, the sorceress from Black moon pack, said to Hilary as she walked down the aisle. Hilary forced a smile on her face as she fixed her gaze on the Lycan twins who stood at a far end with their rich blush and makeup gave her cheeks a rosy glow, and her beautifully fitted magenta gown accentuated her curves. Her father, Alpha Malachi, stood beside her, wearing a false smile. When he met eyes with her, he gave her a harsh look, and she would nod curtly since she knew the signs. Her father was a perfectionist who expected her to do everything perfectly. Gulping down the lump in her throat, Hilary looked up to face Jared and Jayden who were patiently waiting for her. “You're here!” Alpha Gerald approached them, his sparkling white teeth showing through a warm smile. “Yes, Your highness..” Alpha Malachi replied with a bow. They both hugged each other and people watched them intently, feeling happy to see the great Alphas engage in a conversation. “We can't afford to miss such a special day. It's my son-in-law's birthday.” Alpha Malachi said, taking his gaze to the Lycan twins who were now seated on a gigantic chair with marbles at the edge. “Indeed.. I'm honored to see you again.” Alpha Gerald said before taking his gaze to Hilary who was trying hard to keep her smile from faltering. “My lady!” He mumbled as he took her hand in his. She greeted him and bowed from the waist while her father stared at her keenly with a stern expression on his face, hoping she wouldn't make any flaws. “How are you my lady?” Alpha Gerald asked as he leaned to plant a kiss on her fingers. “I'm doing just fine, your highness. I'm glad to finally see you again..” She said with a sheepish smile before taking her gaze to the twin. "Same here. I'm the luckiest to have a lovely person like you as my daughter-in-law. Feel free to see my sons. "I am sure they are waiting for you!" “Okay ,” She said with a rush of excitement on her face. Grasping the fold in her dress, she strolled towards them, anticipating gnawing at her chest. The twins embraced her and they engaged in a conversation. Though they could mark her scent as their mate, yet amidst the grandeur, there was a noticeable emptiness. But since she was their mate, they overlooked it. She was pretty after all, tall, amiable and a little clingy. The function began with people dancing in twos on the dance floor. The twins took turns in dancing with Hilary and they had a little chit chat. Just as the activities continued, the grand double doors opened forcefully and an old lady in a gray robe walked in, sweeping her gaze at every face in the hall. An irrational fear coursed through Sabrina's veins. The sight of the old lady made her stomach lurch. Her mind reeled, trying to make sense of the image in front of her. The old lady looked unkempt with healed bruises on her skin. Everyone's attention was drawn to her and loud gasps erupted from the hall since she was familiar to them. Alpha Gerald's eyes sprang wide when he took in her appearance. She was the great sorceress of his pack and she had been missing for months. After she went missing, Alpha Gerald sent out a search party after her. The goblet he was holding dropped to the floor, crashing as it hit the surface and broke into a bazillion pieces. His eyes went wide, sparkling with surprise. Sabrina, the sorceress of Black Moon pack, trembled at the sight of the old sorceress in a gray robe. Her heart dropped in her stomach and her hands trembled with beads of sweat trickling down her temple. The hall felt silent for a long moment, the only sound was the ticking of the clock on the wall.. Sabrina's heart pounded in her chest, the warmth of the hall replaced by a suffocating sense of dread. Alpha Malachi stared at her, trying to make sense of what was happening. She shook her head and nibbled her lips, knowing full well that their secrets would be out at any moment. The old witch in a gray robe walked into the hall. Her name was Agnes and she was one of the people Alpha Gerald respected in his pack because her gifted power helps to foresee dangers in his pack. “Agnes! Where have you been?” Alpha Gerald exclaimed as he approached her. She didn't respond. Instead, she took her gaze to Sabrina and Alpha Malachi, her amber eyes flaring with rage. Sabrina's hands twitched at her side, her fingers curled in a fist, her heart pounding. Her eyes narrowed with unbridled fury and Sabrina couldn't help but shudder. Agnes began, her voice low and trembling as though the weight of the words she was about to speak could shatter the fragile calm of the room. “I've been absent all these months because I was almost dead.” Agnes revealed and a loud gasp filled the hall. “What do you mean?” Alpha Gerald asked with furrowed brows, the relief on his face morphed into curiosity. Agnes pointed at Sabrina and said, “That witch over there tried to kill me, Alpha Gerald. She and Alpha Malachi!” “What!” Alpha Gerald yelled in disbelief. “Yes. They're nothing but wolves in sheep's clothing. Everything about Hilary being mated to the twins are all lies and deceit. They're all forged with her witchery powers. The fated mate of your sons isn't Hilary, your highness. It is Amanda!!!”
