Amanda's POV Just when I'd resigned myself to a fate worse than death, just when I thought I'd be forever bound to a stranger, the twins burst back into my life, sweeping me away from the jaws of despair and claiming me as their own, their mate. I swallowed hard, hoping I hadn't heard them right but the echoes of their Voices and the intensity in it was haunting, sending shivers down my spine as the weight of their words settled in, leaving me breathless and wondering what fate had in store for me. “She's ours and no one dares touch what belongs to us!” I heard Jared say clearly, his voice filled with possession.. My jaw tightened as I met his gaze, which held me in their grasp. My chest heaved, and my fingers curled around my fabric. “What do you mean she belongs to you?!” Sir Ricco asked as he got on his feet, his eyes lingering on the twins. My shoulders sagged. The weight of my situation lay heavily on it. Jared's fist tightened on the handle of his sword as he made his way towards Ricco. Jayden approached me and I felt my chest tightened with each step. “Do not touch her! I already paid to have her!” Ricco yelled when he saw him stretching his hand towards me. Jared drew his sword and pressed the blade against the man's throat. “She is not your property! You need to get that straight into your thick skull. She's not someone you can have or trade. As the future Alphas of Silver moon pack, you have no right to go against our words!” Jared growled, his voice clear and dangerous, sending shivers down my spine. Swiftly, he pinned Ricco to the wall, his eyes flashing with unrestrained fury. Ricco stuttered and choked under his grip, his eyes going wide with terror. Gnashing his teeth, Jared tightened his grasp on his neck, sending him death glares. “Did you hear what I said, or do you want me to repeat myself?” Jared threatened, his voice low and menacing. Tension lingered in the air, and I felt my world crumbling right before my own eyes. It felt surreal, and it felt like a nightmare at the same time. “Okay. I won't touch her! You - you can have her to yourselves…” Ricco stuttered, raising his hand in a placating gesture. “Good,” Jared muttered, releasing him from his grasp with a bruising force. He slid his sword back into its sheath before walking towards me. “Amanda..” His voice came as a whispered prayer, his eyes filled with longing. I retraced my steps, my heart pounding crazily in my ribcage as fear engulfed me “Amanda, we're sorry for everything we've done..” Those words were laced with a raw, unbridled regret, a stark contrast to the defiance I had anticipated. Sorry? They were really sorry for everything they've done to me? Am I dreaming? “We know how hurt you are and…” His voice trailed off when he saw how scared and nervous I was. Several emotions overwhelmed me and I just couldn't speak, my voice caught in the tangled web of emotions that threatened to consume me, leaving me frozen and silent. I still can't wrap my head around it. They're truly apologising to me after ruining my life? “Amanda, would you please come with us? We have a lot to tell you. Please,” Jayden spoke this time around, his earlier defiance crumbling. His face, that was usually cold and detached, was now plastered with a soft countenance, his eyes radiating with longing and a hint of remorse. I guess I'm dreaming. This is too much to handle. Shaking my head, I clutched my dress tightly and whispered, “I can't go with you. There is no way I'm going back to the pack. I'd rather die than follow you!” Their hearts melted as my words revealed the painful truth. I'd been subjected to their cruelty for far too long, and I’ve refused to suffer at their hands again. “Amanda, please..” Jared whispered, swallowing the lump in his throat. I blinked twice, weighing the intensity of his pleas in his eyes. Are they putting on an act? Are they truly trying to win me back or are they just doing this just to tame me and probably punish me after I return to the pack with them? “We regret everything we've ever done to you and we're more than ready to make amends..” Jared mumbled as he took a few steps near me. Shaking my head, I bit my lower lips, my chest rising and falling in slow rhythm. No.. this can't be happening. I know something is wrong They're here to take me back… to punish me. “Amanda –” Jayden mumbled, his deep brown eyes holding mine in their grasp as I met his gaze. Ricco and some of the men snickered. “Seems like your slave isn't ready to go with you both. Why don't you just leave her for me? I'll pay double the price!” He taunted and chuckled as he said to the twins. Jared removed his sword, his eyes spitting fire and searing his skin like a firebrand. “She's not our slave. She's our mate! And don't you dare think of buying her!” He warned, his voice full of threats. As Jayden drew near, his feet tangled in the rug's folds, sending him stumbling. His momentary distraction was all the opening I needed; I seized the chance to make a desperate escape, determined to evade capture and the dreaded fate that awaited me. Without wasting much time, I sprinted towards the door with every ounce of strength in me. “She's leaving!!” Jayden alerted his brother and the next thing I heard was their footsteps as they chased after me. “We mustn't let her go!” Jared roared, his voice filled with desperation. My head began to spin, and I felt my blood drained because of the little strength in me. Their presence was a weight on my spine, heavy and suffocating. I pushed harder, my legs burning. The ground was uneven, roots reaching up like grasping fingers, trying to pull me down But I didn't stop. I couldn't stop! “Jared. We mustn't lose her. She's our mate!” Jayden screamed, their words fueling my desire to escape. Could they really be my mate? And just then, the world titled, my vision darkening at the edges. I ran into a tree and stumbled and the next thing I felt was their grip on my hand. “Amanda, please, we're deeply sorry for the pain we've caused you. We found out that you're not—-” “No! I'm not coming with you no matter how you try! I won't return to the pack. Please, let me die here. Let me die along with my parents!” I pleaded, a trace of sadness in my voice. Tears streamed down my cheeks, silent and unrelenting. “You're not going to die, Amanda. We won't let you. No one is going to die!” Jared mumbled as he wrapped his arms around me. My body thrashed as I fought his phantom grip. “Let me go! Please, let me go! I want to die! I just wanna die!” I pleaded, my voice tinged with desperation as I struggled to free myself from his grasp. More tears welled up in my eyes as I met their gaze. I jabbed at their broad chest, wanting to free myself, but my efforts were futile. “Please let me die. I know you came here to kill me. Just do it! Don't take me back to that pack. Please don't!” “We're not killing you, Amanda.. we're only here to seek your forgiveness.” “Forgiveness?” I whispered, and then I felt my head spin, the entire world tilting. My vision darkened at the edge as I fell into their embrace, my consciousness slipping away.
