Chapter 9 • First day at the English School On Monday morning, Dimitri was taken by Mr Dorides in his car, dressed in the new school uniform which he had worn in the day before, to the neo-Gothic building which was the English School. Pupils were lining up in the yard, according to subject and class. Dimitri recognised Anthony and followed him over to the place allotted to their form. What made an immediate impression on him was the scattering of nationalities which formed the mosaic of his class. Out of nineteen children, nine were Greek Cypriot, six Turkish Cypriot, two Armenian, one Maronite and one British - Anthony McBaine, or Antonis.
