Chapter 11 The first sensation was pain. Across his arms and chest, Elias felt drying scabs and bandages clench from his sudden motion in the bed. The world around him was a blurry haze of browns, blacks, and the flickering red of a candle. The rest of his feeling followed the pain before his eyes could focus. Bandages and scabbing cuts he knew all too well, but the silk of the sheet beneath his hands was out of place.
