“I’ll trust that to you then, but I don’t know how much longer we can spend here if you don’t mean to have the girl try again to wrestle one of those monsters into submission.”
Azure had figured out what the candy was and sucked on it with a smile. The girl returned to her watching the toy figure once more before either of the two men had realized. Her eyes stared into some far-off place as she watched the strugglings of the wooden soldier. Kurt visibly shivered, looking at the display.
“I don’t,” Ailfrans said. “As for that, I’d like you to keep a closer eye on the girl.”
“Closer?”
“Try to not allow her to get close to anyone. I have a feeling that we will need her on our side when things start coming to a head. If I can’t steer them away from it.”
