“Leave,” Weaver said. The woman’s eyes snapped open and speared right through Alara even as she took a step away. “Get out!”
Alara fled, red-faced, from the room, the door behind her closing harshly on its own and pushing her the last few steps. The other squad members watched her stumble out of the room. They wore insubordinate smirks on their faces, only Else trying to hide her amusement at all. Bilk remarkably seemed entirely unentertained by her blunder, staring out the window in front of him.
“We wanted to wait until you returned to pack our things, Adjudicator,” Jild said, grinning like a fool.
