The explosion threw debris from the shattered door into the room, smashing into equipment and tables as Pryde and Fields ran for the exit.
Covering their heads with their arms, the two agents sprinted for the far side of the room in front of the shockwave that chased them. Pryde activated the door release just in time as the shockwave smashed into them, hurling them through the opening to collide with the corridor wall on the other side of the doorway.
Rolling on the floor, Pryde quickly closed the door, sealing it off from the men chasing them.
“That should hold them off for a few minutes,” he said, sounding a little out of breath.
Fields helped him to his feet, her eyes wide as the adrenaline coursed through her once more.
