Mackenzie spent the next day watching the windows for any sign of life outside. She checked in with the call center twice, but there was nothing she could do to help, and nothing they could do to get to her.
Edie slept most of the day. She woke up a few times and drank some water, ate a few crackers, and begged for drugs. She propositioned both Holden and Mackenzie if they would share the good stuff with her. It broke Mackenzie’s heart to hear.
Late in the day, Mackenzie checked in with Captain Patrick to see if there was any chance they would be rescued.
“The storm dropped more snow than we expected. Until we can get some big trucks in and remove it, we’re mostly trapped.”
