A heavy silence settled over the clinic after the young warrior’s cries. No one knew what to say. No words could ease that kind of pain. I stood frozen beside the bed, staring at the old woman’s still face beneath the sheet. ‘Take care of them’ Her final words echoed inside my mind. The pack doctor gently rested a hand on my shoulder. “Your Highness…” I blinked away my tears and nodded. “We still have patients.” The doctor gave me a sad smile. “Yes.” I forced myself to move.
