Anna Rose's POV

I am running into the night without anything. I don't have a phone and I have no money on me. Ben pulled me out of my room in my nightgown. I didn't even know that I'd be leaving the house tonight.

The cold is telling on my bones again, I need to get to safety as soon as possible or I might just die here.

How can I easily forget what happened earlier tonight?

I'm surprised that Enrique's men didn't chase me further.

Maybe Enrique has realized how worthless I am too, so he didn't bother.

I could find a place to stay for the night without paying anything...wait who am I fooling?

It is worth a try though.

The first inn I saw was rusty-looking, it might not be the safest place to stay because of it. It will be filled with rusty-looking people.

Walked further and found a more decent-looking hotel with the name "Rubies" which had a vacancy for a cleaner outside.

I rushed in there and the person at the reception looked at me like I had lost my way.

"Hola, how may I help you?" She was trying her best to sound decent but her eyes were screaming condensation.

I don't blame her at all.

"I... I saw the post for a cleaning position outside." I want to start

"Really... Isn't it too an odd time of the day to be job searching?" She looked at my feet which had flip-flops on.

"Yeah, but I thought this hotel ran 24/7."

" You make a great point. Do you have a resume or do I? "

" No, no I don't " She knew that I had nothing on me. So why is she asking?

" Why don't you come back with that... " She stared at me coldly.

" Please, I need this job now. I can get you my resume in the day, but I have nowhere to stay tonight. Please don't send me out there. I almost got r***d by some men.... "my voice broke and I started to cry.

"What? Oh dear, I'm so sorry about that, " the coldness in her eyes turned to pity immediately.

"OK, you know what, we can work a way around it. What is your name?"

"Ana Rose," I sniffed and tried to dry my eyes.

"OK Ana Rose, I'm Lily. You can stay in the cleaners' room tonight and start work tomorrow. Look, you're shivering."

She came out of her front desk to help me and asked the doorman to keep an eye on the door while she took me to the cleaner's room.

There I met two other cleaners sleeping on their bed. It seems they are on the night shift.

" Bella, Sara! This is Ana Rose. She will be working with you now, so you should include her name in the rota. "

Lily left me with the two others and left for the night.

Bella and Sara welcomed me and gave me the maid's uniform to change into.

I'm the youngest worker here. Bella and Sara seemed to be in their 20s while I just clocked nineteen.

I stayed on one of the bunk beds there.

I think this place is a new hotel because they have just two cleaners.

I never even believed that I'd find somewhere to lay my head at night. I think I'm finally free. If I had my phone with me, I would have paid for the hotel with some money I made from paintings I sold.

Painting is my go-to hobby when the whole world has turned against me. It is the only thing I can call mine. I have been painting for as long as I can remember. I pour all my feelings out on my canvas and paint away.

At one point, I painted the saddest things because that is how I always feel, but soon I decided to make painting my fantasy, so everything I can't imagine in the real world, I bring to life with my paintbrush.

I secretly attended an art fest where I met art enthusiasts too, who bought some of my paintings. I still have a long way to go in the art world, though it's worth the effort.

I've managed to save a little money, which will help me for a short while.

This is why I was confident enough to decide to run away when Ben rejected me. I have none of that with me now, so I'll make do with what I have.

I didn't ever expect that my mate would be Ben. The only thing that kept me in the pack was the hope of finding my mate and experiencing true love. But I realized tonight that I've been dreaming. I can never find anyone to love me, I'm weak and cursed.

I know that Ben will be looking for me now, so I need to get out of the city as soon as I can. Lili has been so kind to me by letting me stay in the cleaner's lounge till I can gather enough to get a place.

I worked at Rubies for a few days, trying to get enough money to get a phone, but the pay is s**t and they only pay at the end of the month. They had hired more maids, so it wasn't as hectic as when I started.

I walked into the cleaner's lounge one night after I had just attended to a guest who kept calling for detergent for some reason, I heard the other two cleaners talking about a quick side job that pays well.

I didn't want to seem desperate and jump into their conversation, so I just listened.

They claim that the job pays you immediately. You are done.

That's exactly what I need right now.

I didn't want to be nosey, but I prayed that they involved me in their conversation.

"Ana Rose, are you interested?" Bella asked.

Oh, thank the stars. They were reading my mind.

" Extra job, please count me in."

"Alright, but you can't let the new girls know because there will be no one here to work at night if we do," Sara warned.

I felt lucky to be included in their plans.

Some dignitaries are hosting a huge event and he needs beautiful young ladies to serve.

I planned to work on the night shift alone that night since the event takes place at night but I don't know what excuse Sara and Bella planned to give...

We left Rubies at 7 p.m. and headed for the event.

It was in a 5-star hotel. I have never been to one before.

Bella told us to wait while she spoke to the receptionist and soon they handed Bella a key card. We took the elevator which took us to the top floor.

Bella's phone began ringing and she picked up to tell whoever was on it that she was on her way.

I expected Bell to walk towards one of the many rooms since she had a key card but she didn't. She walked towards a door that had staff only labeled on it, and then she used the key card to open it, leading us to another quiet hallway.

Sara asked her if we were allowed to go there and she said that is where we were to change to the desired outfit to prepare for the event.

We finally got to the door and went in. We saw other girls who were here for the event too. There were like 20 girls there. Some had already started fixing their faces for the event, so Bella asked us to join them while she located the bathroom.

She went out of the door we came in from.

Sara and I went to the closet to get a uniform of our size when I heard a click

At the door. It was low but I wondered how I heard it.

"Did you hear that?" I asked Sara.

"Hear what?"

" Never mind," I ignored.

We put the dresses on and fixed our faces. In the process, the light went off suddenly.

Panic filled the room, and the girls closer to the door tried to open it but it was locked. Everyone took out their phone and put on the light to see what was going on. Suddenly, masked men were coming in from a camouflage door that we didn't know existed in the room. Screams filled the whole room but I'm guessing no one will hear us...
