The Rules

Waking up in a tangle of four Alphas was an experience I would never forget. I opened my eyes to find Kael's arm draped over my waist, Damon's head resting on my shoulder, Ryker's leg tangled with mine, and Zane watching me from across the bed with those dark, honey-colored eyes. He was already awake, his gaze fixed on me like I was the most fascinating thing he had ever seen. "Good morning," he murmured. My cheeks flushed. "Good morning." "Sleep well?" "Better than I have in weeks," I admitted. Zane smiled a rare, genuine smile that softened his harsh features. "Good. You're going to need your strength." "What do you mean?" He didn't answer. He just watched me with that same intense gaze, his eyes promising things I wasn't sure I was ready for. Breakfast was a strange affair. The four Alphas moved around Kael's kitchen like they owned the place which, I supposed, they did. They were all Alphas, all used to being in control. And yet, somehow, they had agreed to share with me. I sat at the kitchen island, watching them with a mixture of fascination and disbelief. "So," I said, breaking the silence. "What happens now?" Kael turned from the stove, a spatula in his hand. "What do you mean?" "I mean... What are we? What is this?" Damon set down his coffee cup, his amber eyes meeting mine. "We're mates, Aria. All of us." "All of you?" "Four Alphas," Ryker said, grinning. "One Omega. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, doesn't it?" "It's not a joke," Zane said, his voice sharp. "This is serious. We've all claimed her. She's ours now." I swallowed hard. "And what does that mean, exactly?" "It means you belong to us," Kael said simply. "And we belong to you." The rest of the day was spent establishing rules. "First," Damon said, his voice cool and commanding. "You don't go anywhere without telling us. We need to know where you are at all times." "Second," Ryker added, his eyes gleaming. "You don't spend the night with anyone else. Just us." "Third," Kael said, his voice firm. "You don't keep secrets from us. If something's wrong, you tell us." "And fourth," Zane finished, his honey eyes boring into mine. "You trust us. Completely." I looked around at the four of them, my heart pounding. "That's a lot of rules." "You'll get used to them," Damon said. "And if I don't?" They exchanged glances. Kael stepped forward, his hand cupping my chin. "Then we'll remind you," he said softly. "Every day, if we have to. Until you understand." That night, we had dinner together. It was strange at first the four of them around the table, their Alpha energy filling the room. But as the meal went on, it started to feel... normal. Comfortable. "So, how did you all meet each other?" I asked, genuinely curious. Damon shrugged. "We're all Alphas in the same city. We run in the same circles." "We've known each other for years," Ryker added. "Never thought we'd be sharing a woman, though." "Neither did I," I admitted. "I never thought I'd be... well, this." Zane reached across the table, taking my hand. "What did you think you'd be?" I thought about it. "I don't know. Normal, I guess. A normal life. A normal relationship." "There's nothing normal about you, Aria," Kael said, his voice filled with conviction. "And that's what makes you special." Later that night, we sat on the balcony, looking out over the city. Kael had his arm around my shoulders. Damon was on my other side, his hand resting on my thigh. Ryker leaned against the railing, his wild eyes watching the stars. Zane stood behind me, his hands resting on my shoulders. "Does this scare you?" Damon asked quietly. "All of this?" I thought about it. "Terrifies me," I admitted. "But also... it excites me. I feel more alive than I ever have." "That's because you are alive," Zane said, his voice low. "You're not just existing anymore. You're truly living." I looked up at the stars, a small smile on my face. "I think this is the first time I've ever felt like I belong somewhere." "You do belong," Kael murmured, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "You belong with us."
