22: Dead End –––––––– MOORE AND SANDOVAL were called to the Barstow Police Station as a matter of urgency. The detectives, each carrying a bag of breakfast and a cup of coffee, had been hoping that today would be just another day at the office. They were greeted by the Chief of Police and the police officer in charge of the tipping hotline. ‘This better be good,’ said Moore, ‘I’m not in a good mood.’ The Chief introduced the police lieutenant. ‘This is Louis Campbell. These are Detectives Moore and Sandoval. Go ahead.’ ‘Detectives, we received a tip two days ago, from an Army Chief Warrant Officer. Name of Andrea Cosgrove. It’s very promising, and we believe it’s credible. Listen.’ ‘Wait ... Not so fast,’ said Sandoval. ‘You reckon this is a good tip and we’re only learning about it
