Chapter 5

Sandra's POV: "Good morning, sleepyheads!" I greeted my team while rubbing my eyes. Ice said we needed to wake up at 3 AM, so we're all still a bit sleepy. When we went downstairs, I saw Ice and Sabrina staring at their glasses, looking serious. I suddenly felt something strange. "Does anyone else feel like we suddenly stepped into a freezer?" I whispered to Liander and Alira. They nodded. "I have a feeling something's wrong," Liander replied in a low voice. Why does it feel like their auras suddenly changed? Aira whispered. I think today is going to be tough for us, Dustine said in a soft voice. I'm both nervous and excited about what's going to happen today. Go to the kitchen everyone and eat for 2 minutes. Training will start now. Don't expect me to be a nice trainer to you. Sabrina said coldly. I felt even colder from Sabrina's voice. So we quickly went to the kitchen. Seriously, only two minutes to eat? Oh my gosh! Alira complained. Tsk, stop complaining and eat. Training is starting, didn't you hear? Dustine scolded her. We were eating in a hurry when someone spoke at the kitchen door. Time's up. Sabrina said. We all looked at her. What? I've only had three bites. I complained. But she just gave me a cold look. Go to the training ground in one minute. Sabrina said in a cold tone. Our eyes widened. Seriously? Aira said. But Sabrina turned her back on us. She seems really serious. Liander said. So even though we hadn't finished eating, we followed her. Alira's POV: We're now at the training ground, and we haven't even had a chance to shower or eat properly. I'm so hungry! But here we are, standing in this training ground, facing Ice and Sabrina. "Alright, listen up," Ice said coldly. "Your first challenge will test your endurance and teamwork. You need to finish this obstacle course without touching the ground. The course is full of different obstacles, like walls, pits, and hanging bars. Those who fail will face consequences." As Ice was speaking, a holographic projection appeared in front of us. We saw a very difficult obstacle course. I swallowed hard. This is harder than I expected. There's one more rule you need to remember. You can't use any of your powers today. Your first obstacle is that. Sabrina said, pointing to a rope. You need to cross it. You have two minutes to finish all six obstacles. Sabrina said. I was nervous. Six obstacles seemed easy, but it's obvious It's difficult And this is our first training without using our powers. I stared at the balance beam made of rope. My heart was pounding. I don't know if I can walk on that. I looked at Sandra, she's so brave. I want to be like her, but my hands are getting cold. "I'll go first," Sandra said. I saw determination in her eyes. I can do this too. I just need to believe in myself. Sandra started walking on the beam. I closed my eyes while waiting for the sound of her footsteps. When I heard the sound of her feet landing on the other side, I slowly opened my eyes. I saw her smiling at us. "Your turn!" she shouted. I slowly stood up and started walking on the beam. With every step, I was more nervous. But I saw my teammates cheering me on. I can do this! When I reached the other side, I felt relieved and happy. I did it! I looked at the next obstacle – a tall wall. I became more nervous. Can I do this? Leander's POV: I stared at the wall like it was a giant rocket blocking our path. I don't know how we're going to climb it. We can't use our powers, and I don't know if we're strong enough to climb without any help. I looked at Alira. I could see the fear in her eyes, but she was trying to be brave. I smiled. This girl, even though she's scared, she doesn't show weakness. "We can do this," I heard Dustine say. He's right. We need to be strong. Not just for ourselves, but for the whole group. I took a deep breath and looked at the wall. We need to find a way to get to the next level. Suddenly, we heard a strange noise. It sounded like someone was walking behind the wall. My eyes widened. What could that be? And worse, what are we going to do? Aira's POV I shivered, leaning against the cold wall. I couldn’t shake off the terrifying noise we heard earlier. It felt like it was coming from right behind the wall in front of us. I wasn’t sure if we should pay attention to it or just continue the obstacle course. Maybe it would be more dangerous if we tried to find out what was on the other side. But it would be such a waste if we didn’t check it out. I needed to think carefully. I couldn’t let my fear control me. I had to be strong, not just for myself but for the whole group. "Ugh, what am I going to do?" I muttered to myself. I looked at Sandra and Dustine. They seemed to have heard the noise too. They were staring at the wall with furrowed brows. "What do you think?" I asked them. "Maybe we should check it out," Dustine replied. "It could be more dangerous if we ignore it." Sandra nodded. "But how?" I thought about it. Dustine was right. We needed to find out what was on the other side of the wall. But how? It's frustrating that we can't use our powers. I'm starting to feel scared. While we were deep in thought, Allira suddenly spoke up, "Hey guys, look at this!" We approached her. "What is it, Alli?" Dustine asked. "Look," Allira pointed at a tiny hole in the wall. It was so small you could easily miss it. We all furrowed our brows. "Allira, what are you doing? We don't have time for this. We're in the middle of a training exercise," Sandra reminded her. "No, I think there's something here. Remember after we crossed the rope, we all heard that loud noise like something was chasing us, and then it suddenly stopped?" she said. We all nodded. "Try putting your ear to the hole, Dustine. Listen." Dustine did as he was told. After a moment, his eyes widened in surprise. "There are definitely sounds coming from inside the wall," he said. Leander touched the wall, and to our surprise, the hole grew large enough for us to fit through. We exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. We decided to go inside. To our astonishment, we found ourselves in a large chamber filled with glowing, colorful symbols. But that wasn't the most shocking part. A gigantic, monstrous creature stood before us. "What the..." Dustine exclaimed. "What kind of monster is that?" I asked. It was a huge creature with many legs and arms. It had ten heads, but only one eye. "We need to use our powers," Sandra said. "But we're not supposed to," I replied. We were in this predicament when the monster charged at us. Luckily, Allira quickly created a shield. "We have no choice," Allira said, so we all nodded. "Dustine," I called out. He looked at me. "Lift up the ground I'm standing on so I can study the monster's weakness," I said. He used his power to elevate the ground I was on. I studied the monster. Its eye... I think that might be its weakness. "Guys, I think its eye is its weakness," I said. With that, I gathered light in my hands and aimed it at the monster's eye. I managed to blind it. Sandra attacked with water, Ali created a gust of wind, Dustin broke the ground, and Leander's sword flashed like lightning. Together, we fought the monster until it finally fell. We took a deep breath. We had done it. Dustine POV "What now? Can't you guys see anything?" I asked them. They just shook their heads. This is so frustrating! We're already so tired and we still haven't found any clues. "Maybe there's a hidden passageway here," I suggested. We started inspecting the surroundings. We examined the walls, the floor, and even the ceiling. But we couldn't find anything. "What now?" Alira asked. "I don't know," Liander replied. "But we have to find the way." We continued searching. We wouldn't stop until we found the way to the next obstacle. A moment later, I saw something strange on the wall. It looked like a small bump. I approached it and tried to touch it. When I touched it, something seemed to open. It was a small door! "Guys! I found something!" I shouted at them. They immediately came towards me. "What is it?" Sandra asked. "It's a door," I replied. "Maybe this is the way to the next obstacle." I slowly opened the door. It was a bit dark inside, but I saw a light at the end. "I think you're right," Liander said. One by one, we entered the door. When we were all inside, I closed the door. "Where do you think this will lead us?" Alira asked. "I don't know, but let's be careful," I replied. We continued walking. And finally, we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. When we went out, we saw the next obstacle. A huge maze! "What now?" Sandra asked. "Looks like this one is harder," Liander replied. "But we can do this," I said. "We just have to work together." We started walking through the maze. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't impossible either. We just had to be careful and help each other. Aira's POV We were standing in front of this maze. It looked difficult, but we weren't going to give up. We had to find our way out. "What's the plan?" Sandra asked. "First of all, we need to make a map," I replied. "Maybe we'll find some clues here that can guide us." We started walking around the maze. As we walked, we observed our surroundings. We saw symbols on the walls and floor. "Look at this," Alira said, pointing to a symbol. "It seems connected to the symbols we saw in the room earlier." "You're right," Liander said. "Maybe it's a clue." We started studying the symbols. After a while, I thought of something. "Guys, look at the sequence of these symbols," I told them. "There seems to be a pattern." We started studying the pattern of the symbols. And finally, we decoded it! "You're right!" Sandra exclaimed. "This is the way out!" We followed the pattern of the symbols. And finally, we saw the light! The exit! "Yes! We did it!" Alira shouted. When we got out of the maze, we saw the next challenge. A huge volcano! "What now?" Sandra asked. "This looks even harder," Liander said. "But we can do this," I said. "Let's just work together." We started walking towards the volcano. As we got closer and closer, the heat we felt became stronger and stronger. "We need to think fast," I told them. "How are we going to get through this?" We all thought. We needed to find a way to get past the volcano's heat. My heart was pounding as I stared at the volcano. We had overcome the maze, but this... this was a different level of insanity. The air shimmered with heat, and the ground rumbled beneath our feet. "Okay team," I said, my voice barely audible over the roaring of the volcano. "We need to think. How are we going to get past this?" Dustine looked around, his brow furrowed in thought. "Maybe there's a way to go around. We need to look for clues, anything that can help us." Liander nodded in agreement. "We should look for signs of cooler areas, maybe a cave or a path hidden from the heat." Sandra pointed to some strange gray and black plants clinging to the rocky side of the volcano. "What about these? They seem to be surviving somehow." An idea came to my mind. "Maybe they can teach us something. Let's follow them." We cautiously walked towards the strange plants, the heat intensifying with each step. As we approached, we noticed a faint light emanating from a crack in the volcano's rock. Could it be? We stopped and peered inside the entrance. The entrance was narrow, but the light beckoned us into the unknown. "I think..." I began, my voice trailing off as I pointed to the passage. Liander's eyes gleamed with a mixture of fear and excitement. "Let's find out." We took a deep breath and ventured into the cool darkness of the cave. We walked slowly into the cave, my hands gripping the cold stone wall for guidance. The light at the end gradually intensified, revealing a small chamber with a glowing stone hanging in the center. When we entered the chamber, we noticed strange symbols carved into the walls, similar to the ones we encountered in the maze. But there were also new symbols, more complex and mysterious. "Look at this," Sandra whispered, pointing to a symbol that seemed to be moving. "It looks like it has a life of its own." Suddenly, the stone in the center of the chamber lit up, revealing an image of an ancient map. But it wasn't an ordinary map. The lines moved and the colors shifted, displaying a path that glowed brightly amidst the fiery map. "This is the way!" Liander exclaimed, pointing to the luminous path on the map. "This will take us to the other side of the volcano!" But before we could follow the path, the chamber plunged into darkness, and the map vanished. We heard a loud roar from outside the cave. "What was that?" Dustine asked, his voice filled with fear. We cautiously approached the cave entrance and peered outside. And there, we saw the source of the roar. A massive dragon, its eyes glowing with fire, its teeth sharp and menacing. "The dragon..." Sandra whispered, her voice barely audible. I looked at Dustine, then at Liander, then at Sandra. I knew they were scared, but I also knew we couldn't give up. We had to overcome this challenge, we had to escape the volcano. "What do we do?" I asked them, my voice steady despite my heart pounding. Dustine took a deep breath. "We have to use our intelligence and our courage. We can't be defeated by this beast." We nodded. I knew we still had hope. We just needed to work together and use all our abilities to defeat the dragon and escape the volcano. "I think we should use our powers again," Liander suggested. We all agreed. And so, we faced the dragon, ready to fight. Sandra, with a confident smile, declared, "I'll handle this." Water erupted from her hands.
