Chapter 16

Aiea POv After the ranking, several day passed. Then, a new class started at Crystal Academy. We were all in our classroom with the other royals - it's a class we had to attend. "Good morning, royals," said Ms. Hoson, our history professor. She smiled as she walked to the front of the room. Everyone, except for Oce who had his face down on the desk, said, "Hi Ms. Hoson." "Because of the recent ranking, we have new students joining our class," Ms. Hoson announced. "They're the ones who placed in the top 20. Please welcome the newest members of the royal class." As she finished speaking, three new students walked into the room. Percy and Calix, both from the Ice Kingdom, looked serious. Luna, the third one, seemed really nervous. Percy sat at the back, near Ice. Calex and Luna sat together at the front. Luna caught my eye and I gave her a sweet smile. She returned it shyly. "We have a new lesso n today," Ms. Hoson announced. "It's something I'm sure you've never heard of. As royalty, you need to know this." She held up a symbol – a golden sword with vines wrapped around it, and a crescent moon at the end. We were all shocked. "That symbol," Ms. Hoson continued, "belongs to a powerful guardian. Not just any guardian, but the Moon Hime." Ice, who had been quiet, looked up. His expression was cold. "The Moon Hime gives this symbol to a mage she has chosen. It's a sign of her protection." Our minds raced. Could we have been with the Moon Hime and didn't know it? "The symbol is called a Moonedge," Ms. Hoson explained. "It's a strong connection." "What if the person who has the Moonedge dies?" Liander asked. "If the mage can't find the Moon Hime, they'll be in great danger. The Dark Shadows will try to use them," Ms. Hoson replied. Suddenly, Ice stood up and stormed out of the room. We chased after him, leaving Ms. Hoson and the others behind. We burst out of the classroom, following the trail of Ice's angry footsteps. The halls were usually bustling, but now they felt strangely empty. The only sound was our hurried breaths and the echo of our own footsteps. Third person POV Ice stormed out of the Crystal Academy, his heart heavy with newfound knowledge. He sought solace in the familiar embrace of the Crystal Forest, a place he hadn't visited in a year. The once vibrant forest now seemed abandoned and desolate. "Sabrina," he whispered, his voice filled with longing. The memories flooded back – their first meeting, their shared laughter. A surge of anger and sorrow consumed him. "Sabrina!" he roared, his voice echoing through the trees. His fists clenched, he unleashed a torrent of fire, venting his frustration onto the ancient trees. Tears streamed down his face as he called out her name again and again. "Why didn't you tell me? Why?" he cried, his voice breaking. Falling to his knees, he wept, the weight of his grief too heavy to bear. Unbeknownst to him, a figure watched from the shadows, their eyes filled with sorrow and understanding. Hours passed as Ice grieved. The other royals, Liander, Alira, Dustine, and Sandra, eventually found him. They were shocked to see him in such a state. "Ice," Liander called out, his voice filled with concern. Ice turned, his eyes red and swollen. "I want to know the truth," he said, his voice barely a whisper. With a heavy heart, he teleported away, leaving his friends to ponder the mysteries that had unfolded. Meanwhile, Sandra, while helping extinguish the fire, thought she had seen a familiar figure lurking in the trees. "Guys, I think I saw Luna earlier," she said, her voice filled with uncertainty. The others exchanged puzzled glances. Luna, a fellow mage, was not known to venture into the Crystal Forest. Before they could discuss it further, a loud explosion echoed through the woods, startling them. They rushed towards the sound, their hearts pounding with dread. The explosion rocked the forest, sending shockwaves through the trees. Smoke and debris filled the air as the group raced towards the chaos. Their hearts pounded in their chests, determination fueling their steps. When they burst through the thick undergrowth, the sight that met them was both terrifying and confusing. A massive crater yawned open in the earth, and at its center, a figure stood defiantly. It was Ice, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. But he wasn't alone. Towering over him was a shadowy creature they'd never seen before. Its form was twisted and menacing, and its eyes burned with an evil fire. "Ice!" Dustine cried out, her voice barely audible over the chaos. "What's happening?" Ice didn't answer. His attention was focused entirely on the shadowy creature. With a roar, he launched himself into battle, his fists and feet a blur of motion. The creature retaliated with swipes of its clawed hands and blasts of dark energy. The other royals knew they couldn't just stand by and watch. Drawing their own weapons and using their unique abilities, they joined the fray. The battle that followed was a blur of magic and mayhem. Trees were uprooted, the earth trembled, and the air crackled with the tension of the fight. The battle raged on, a whirlwind of magic and raw power. The creature's attacks were relentless, but Ice and the others fought back with equal ferocity. Liander, with his sword and shield, was a wall, blocking the creature's attacks while seeking openings. Aira, with her mastery of light and darkness, healed the wounded and confused the creature. Sandra, with her water magic, created obstacles and traps, slowing the creature's advance. Ali, with her control of the wind, created powerful gusts and whirlwinds to disorient and weaken the creature. Ice, fueled by his fiery power, unleashed a torrent of flames, burning the creature and forcing it to retreat. Ice, feeling the weight of responsibility, focused his attacks on the creature's core, aiming to strike a decisive blow. With a powerful surge of fire, he launched himself at the creature, his fist ablaze. The impact was earth-shattering, and the creature howled in pain. Seizing the moment, Liander unleashed a powerful attack, weakening the creature further. One by one, the royals unleashed their strongest attacks, their magic combining into a dazzling display of power. With a final, earth-shattering roar, the creature crumbled, its essence dissipating into the air. Silence fell over the forest, broken only by the ragged breathing of the victorious warriors. A mysterious figure, watching from the shadows, smiled knowingly as the young royals celebrated their victory. Meanwhile, the royals themselves were filled with a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, their memories flooding back to a time when they fought together as a united front. Just as they were about to delve deeper into their conversation, the earth trembled violently, throwing them off balance. "What's happening?" Aira exclaimed. "The ground is splitting!" Dustine cried out in alarm. The earth beneath their feet began to crack and split open, forming a deep chasm. "Aliera!" they all shouted in unison as they were plunged into the darkness. AHHHHHHHHH
