A world with end

Chapter one

Have you ever wished your life was different? Have you ever dreamed of a new you? This is how Luna willow feels! Every night when he comes home she lays there thinking about what could be , what she dreams to be!

When he comes in after drinking he always get red with rage ! I hear him walking up the steps! See when Luna was 17 she met the man of her dreams or so she believed. Her mom had run off left her to fend for herself at 14! Working double shifts. When one night waiting tables Johnny row walked in ! He was the most alluring man Luna had ever seen. At first she thought he wouldn’t be interested in someone like her! But Johnny was, he’d come into the diner just to see sweet Luna !

It wasn’t long before he asked her out! Of course Luna excepted . Johnny had planned the entire night . Candle lit dinner near the beach . What kinda guy in a small town plans things like that ! He was a dream come true, til he wasn’t!

It wasn’t long after saying I do!, he turned into someone else. The First time she assumed was accidental but then it became more frequent . Johnny wasn’t who he’d portrayed to be.

Luna had quit her job, stopped seeing friends in less than a year Johnny was in control of every aspect of her life .

Luna wiped tears away trying to shake off the painful memories . Enough of that ! She could hear Johnny down stairs yelling wanting his food . Luna jumped up to get his plate out of the warmer . She put on a fake smile and asked him how his day was ? Johnny looks at her with his dark eyes like the night and says “ it was better before I had to see your f*****g face!” She knew what was coming . He lunged at her grabbing her by the throat choking her out ! Luna cries trying to get his hands off her throat !

Johnny sees lights outside and releases Luna . Luna gasps for air ! Johnny yells who was here with you?! Luna crawls to the corner “no one!”

Johnny dashes toward her again, but a thud on the porch makes him stop . Luna looks at Johnny and realizes tonight is her last night on earth but at least it will finally stop !

Johnny looks at Luna and says if I open this door and find another man I will kill you both!

Johnny runs to the door slings it open a woman jumps inside the door lunges at him and begins to eat his face off !!

Luna runs to get away, she get inside the pantry and locks the door . While hearing Johnny scream and yell for help ! Then the silence was deafening. Luna laid on the pantry floor with what seemed like hours .

Soon she heard walking but they wasn’t coming toward her but away like leaving ! Was Johnny okay?! If he was what hell would be place on her for leaving him?

As she raised from the pantry floor she could see sun light beaming from under the door! Have I been here all night?! Luna thought .

Afraid to open the door just yet she quietly shifted to the corner wall opposite to her.

All of a sudden she heard screaming and gun shots ! Luna tried to drown out the noises . But someone entered Johnny’s house , it wasn’t hers he reminded her nightly he owned it all even her . She didn’t own anything.

The door shut and she could hear someone argue and yell! The muffled sounds couldn’t be made out . Luna cradled herself as foot steps near the pantry door! Then someone tried to open it ! Luckily they walked away or so she thought ! The door flung open breaking the frame !! A man with a shot gun pointed at her!! Luna crying saying please just do it!! The man lowering the gun looks at Luna with regret . I’m so sorry I thought you was one of them !! Give me your hand ! Luna backs away slowly she knows if Johnny is alive and seen her take his hand he’d kill him .

The stranger lowers his hand and looks at Luna he can see the scars the bruises. He knows what she’s been through. He slowly kneels down to her level , i’m sorry for scaring you . My name is rip it’s a nick name my buddies call me ! Have you seen what’s going on? Rip asks.

Luna just shakes her head no! Rip sighs in regret , I don’t know how to tell you this but the dead started returning and eating people , who ever gets bit will turn after they die and eat people as well! Luna just sits there for a moment and thinks about Johnny got bit in the face .

Rip looks at Luna and backs away slowly .

He knows she will need sometime .

Luna watches him walk away and it dawns on her Johnny won’t be coming back! She slowly rises from the floor and walks out of the pantry . As she enters the living room she sees rip with another man . Rip smiles and introduces the other man with him as Boone ! She nods to them an walks over to the door where she last saw Johnny . A puddle of blood lay at the door ! Rip walks over to her not getting to close and asks Did you see what happened? Luna nods her head .

Boone walks over to the door looking through the window to see outside . There’s more coming!!

Rip looks at Luna , she nods at him . She walks to door to peak out and sees Johnny dead on the porch . The nightmare is finally over . Rip leans to her asking are you ok? Luna nodding trying to hold back tears . She dreamed of this moment for so long why does she feel so sad?

Rip reaching over to touch her arm but Luna flinches and he raises his hand to let her know he isn’t gonna do that again . But both jump as a banging comes from the door !! Loud moaning !

Luna slowly backs away from the door but Boone steps in front of her with a gun pointing at the door . Luna dashes to the closet and grabs a baseball bat ! But as she returns the glass on the door breaks . Rip fires a shot!! Hitting the dead .

Boone fires a round at another one killing it as well . Boone yells to Rip “where are they coming from?”

Rip says: I don’t know Boone!

Luna looking at both men thinking about how loud the guns are and hearing more coming to the door.

It’s the guns! Luna said: they can hear the shots it’s attracting more .

Then it dawns on Rip and Boone . That’s how they’ve been finding us! Rip looks to Boone “we need more weapons!”

Boone sprints off looking for weapons .

Rip looks to Luna , “do you have a mechete ?’”

Luna thinking about all the tools Johnny had bought up over the summer . She looks to Rip and nods . She motioned for him to follow her . Rip grabbing Boone on the way . Luna brings them to Johnny’s tool room . She looks at them and there’s plenty of tools in there ! Rip notices the lock ! Taking her bat to beat the lock off .

Boone looks at Luna , do you live here ? Luna nods her head! He then sees the bruises on her neck . He doesn’t say anything but when the door pops open he seems the scars on her arms and face .

Rip walks into the tool room grabbing knives , machetes and anything to use for protection. Luna walks around the room , Johnny wouldn’t allow her to enter the room .She doesn’t know what it was that she did to him to make him treat her so badly . All she’d ever done was love him and do everything he’d asked . Coming out of thought Rip walking beside her asking her what her name was?

“Luna” is my name she said: Boone and Rip nod . Breaking from the moment a crash is heard . Running to the living room to see what happened . They see the other glass window in the door had busted ! Rip swung an axe to the dead’s head killing it ! Boone looking at them worried , we need to leave ! Do you have a car luna ? Luna shaking her head, No! But Johnny did! It’s in the back . Rip looking to Boone we need to go now! Get as far away as we can ! Luna grabbing a bag from the coat closet to fill with food and water ! As Boone jogs to the back door to see how many of the dead are there .

Rip looking at the busted windows. Realizing the door is starting to crack! “We gotta go now!” The door ain’t gonna hold any longer ! Running to grab luna as the door gave way!

The back is clear let’s go! Boone yells.

Running from the house they jump inside the car . Rip starts the car as four of the dead run out of the house !

Go..go!! Yelled luna.

Boone sighing in relief as the drove away.

Luna laid over on the door looking out the window it has been so long since she had been out of that house . Cracking her window she looks to see what’s stuck on her foot . Realizing its a pair of women’s panties . She knew he’d went out with other women . Johnny didn’t keep that a secret he’d brag to Luna about who and what he’d do with them. Rip clearing his throat pulling Luna from her thoughts . Where are we heading to asks Rip. Any ideas?

Boone glances back at Luna anywhere you can think of?? He asks.

Luna just shrugs her shoulders . Wait..! Maybe..! The ocean..! We can get a boat and sail away.find somewhere the dead ain’t!

That sounds like a good idea but this is everywhere! I don’t think we could find somewhere they ain’t ! Said Boone .

Maybe we could go somewhere colder ! It should freeze them …right?? Said Rip..

Makes since they would freeze due to freezing temperatures said Boone..

Luna agrees with them as well Luna opens her eyes realizing she’d fallen asleep.

It’s been a long time since she was able to sleep that well. Looking around she doesn’t recognize the area . Where are we ? Asks Luna .

Rip looks back , where about 20 miles east of Charleston! Boone waking up rubbing his eyes , Charleston! We can’t go near the cities! We won’t make it out! Luna grabbing her bag taking out a map to find a new route. Rip realizes the city was a mistake . We’ve been driving for 6 hours! We’re gonna need gas soon! Says Rip.

I found a new route take the next road and we will be about 20 minutes from a gas station! Says Luna. Boone sighing with relief!

Rip takes the turn and whispers a silent prayer hoping they can make the trip to the gas station . Luna starts to think about what all Johnny had packed in the trunk . He always kept certain items incase he’d break down. How much gas do you think we have Rip? Luna asks. Rip looking down at the gauges , I’d say not enough that’s for sure !

We have to pull over ! Luna says.

What?? Why?? Asks Boone.

Johnny kept blankets , extra gas and other survival things in the trunk! Said Luna .

Rip realizing the severity of the situation slows the car to a stop. Ok I’ll grab the trunk , Boone you grab the can! Luna keep an eye out ! Once we start pouring the gas in , Luna you step near the door incase we have to run fast and jump in ! Ok!! On three ….1…..2….3!!!

They all jump out run to the back of the car. Rip opens the trunk , Boone grabs the can. Luna can hear growling and moaning in the tree line . She whisper yells hurry!!! I can hear them out there ! Boone starts to pour the gas . Rip looks over to Luna , go ahead and get in the car! We will be right behind you! Luna walking to the door when she hears a cracking sound she looks around and sees 5 of the dead walking out of the tree line . Rip!!! Boone!!! She whisper yells again to keep them from hearing . Rip and Boone look over at the dead coming out of the tree line . s**t!!! Just put the cap back on we will finish filing it up later!!! Rip says.

We fill it now we won’t have to stop til it’s day light ! Boone replies. Boone steadies his self as the the dead creep closer to them.

We can handle this ! One at a time of they get closer ! Rip says.

Luna climbing back out of the car with her baseball bat. I’m with you both! Says Luna.

We will take them out while you pour the gas Luna!! Says Rip . Boone agrees with a nod . Luna grabs the gas can and takes over . Boone and Rip await the dead . Their getting closer Luna replies . Their still far enough away we can wait ! Replies Rip. Luna screams as one grabs her by the back of the head!! Rip and Boone charge the dead as it causes her to drop the gas can. Rip yells duck Luna!!! He swings the bat and it hits the dead but it didn’t hit its head. s**t!!! Yells Boone

Rip swings again as the dead one is inches away from Lunas flesh. The crack and pop sound echos in the wind as the dead falls lifeless on the ground . Are you ok!! yells Rip

I’m fine , it didn’t get me ! Replies Luna .

Boone and Rip sigh in relief . That was close ! How the Hell did he sneak up on us like that ? Says Luna . Cause we was worried about the ones coming from the tree line in front of us ! Replies Rip. Well we lost a fair amount of gasoline ! Luna says . Rip grabs the can and pops it back in the trunk ! We’re leaving ! Rip says .

Good idea replies Boone . We will stop at the gas station . We should have enough fuel now !

Luna jumping in the car while Boone and Rip shut their doors . Let’s get the hell outta here!

Luna couldn’t believe the dead has snuck up in her . He was so close . I was so afraid ! I can’t believe how a few hours and now I don’t wanna die anymore . I wanna live !!

Rip breaks Luna out of her thoughts , Are you sure your ok ? Im good! Im perfect actually!! Replies Luna. Nothing like a brush with death to make you realize a few things! Rip and Boone nod with under standing .

Thank you guys for helping me when the “zombie” had me! You don’t have to thank us , it was the right thing to do ! Your with us now . We’re a team replies Rip and Boone smiling while nodding . We are stuck with each other now ! Replies Boone . The trio began to laugh !!

Boone has a comical personality. Thought Luna . These two guys are my family now . I’ll do what ever I can to protect them . As of reading her mind Rip speaks up with a crack in his voice we are like family now ! We will stick together and protect each other ! With that Luna wiped a stray tear away from her eyes . Boone nodded and and cleared his throat looking out the window .

What do you think we will find at the gas station ? Asks Luna

I’d say more what did you call them “Zombies”

Makes since , they do remind me of the movies. But more scary!! Says Boone .

Luna looks ahead and asks what do you think caused it??? I’d like to know as well replied Rip

Maybe a bat!!! Replied Boone. The bat did cause the pandemic ! Covid was every where thanks to a dumb ass and a bat!! Luna remembering the odd news she’d watched while Johnny was working or out with another woman . The shots , the odd behaviors . When. Rip stops the car . They all jerk forward . Looking out the front she sees cars pulled off the road the zombies have people dragged out and eating them ! Keep driving Boone yells . Rip looks around to see if he can spot anyone alive . Luna looks behind them as two zombies hit the back of the car . Rip slowly drives away . I wanted to make sure there wasn’t any survivors! He says .

Their all dead!! Well deadish! Says Boone

Luna shakes her head at Boones reply .

We should be seeing the gas station around this next curve . Said Boone

I hope it’s let’s hope no zombies are there! Says Luna .

We are about to find out! Said Rip

Looks empty from here ! Said Luna

Let’s get our weapons ready! Rip said we only need gas we have food and water! Said Rip

Rip stops the car , ok! Take a weapon stay close ! Said Rip

Remember to keep an eye on the backside too ! Said Luna with a smile

Luna you pump the gas ! While me and Boone keep an eye out for zombies!

Ok! Let’s do this !

Luna jumps out grabs the pump slides the nozzle in the car but no gas comes out ! It’s not working guys! Said Luna

Boone realizes it must be turned off on the inside of the store .

Ok! Look one of us needs to run in and turn the pumps on!

Rip looks at Boone I’ll go! Boone looks at Rip always stealing my thunder brother! They have a small laugh together .

Luna admiring their closeness , it’s amazing they’re as close as they are . Johnny didn’t have any friends , he said friends always betrayed him or took something from him . I always wondered what he meant by that ! He was a closed off man. Shaking off her thoughts looking at Boone as he steadied his self at the gas station door ready to sling it open for Rip to run in .

Boone reaches to grasp the door and he’s kings the door open , two zombies fall out the guys bash their head in . Rip jumps inside and slowly looks around the abandoned gas station . No one else seems to be here . He walks To the register and sees the gas pump power panel .

Reaching the panel he turns on all the pumps .

While walking out he and Boone high five each other while laughing . Luna punks the gas . And looks around the area to make sure another surprise doesn’t happen. The guys walking over talking about where they’ll head next. Luna could think of so many places but now with zombies walking around it’s better to learn survival first .

Well the gas is full , we can head out on the open road again ! Said Luna .

They all jump in the car. Let’s go captain said Boone

Let’s head north where it’s cold and no zombies or we hope there isn’t any zombies!

What’s is your story Boone?

Boone chokes on a doughnut coming out of thought . Well I was with my beautiful boxer dog her name was blazer ! We had a long fun filled night ! I’d left my window open to wake up and my beautiful girl blazer was no more . He ties to hold the back tears. As he recalled the memory he last seen his baby blazer .

Luna turns to Rip , what’s your story ??

Rip just looks at Luna through the rear view mirror. I don’t want to tell you now but I will tell you ! Said Rip Luna thinks about what he said. Did he have a rough life too? I wonder what his story is ? As my mind swirled with curiosity Rip started to slow the car once again . What’s wrong ?? Asks Luna I’m getting tired replied Rip

Boone jumps to action. Ready to be captain for a while .
