16 Lightning crackled through the night, but it didn’t slow Lilianya. She shivered with cold, but at least the weather was improving. Winter was near its end. Lilianya saw the orange sun hit its peak. Still smaller than one of the moons. She hadn’t stopped all night. Normally, she would have slept. Yet, she couldn’t. Her legs burned. She rubbed the back of her neck, which ached along with her lower back. Lilianya hadn’t planned on a long trip. She barely had any supplies. Her pack comprised a few pieces of jerky. She stopped after one more mountain and glanced behind her. Emptiness. Not a soul in sight. No pirates. Not even any wyverns or drakes. She’d never been this far north before.
