He rubbed his face, shaking his head as he mumbles, “I should have Never let her go.” Closing his eyes, feeling a sense of dread takeover him, he quickly continued, “Based on logic, the chances of meeting her again are slim, but surely I must try.” As he walked off his thoughts began drifting, wondering when the next time he would be graced by her presence, and if there was a bigger reason why she looked so familiar to him. A small fraction of hope began building in his chest as he thought to himself, “Perhaps she is someone whose life I will entangle with for and I just haven’t been given the privilege to know her yet.” The odds of them running into each other began rising and in a way, that sorrow began subsiding, he could still feel the sensation of warmth rise in his chest as he remembered his sight of her in the bus while he was in his car The inaudible huff he let go was a siren, filled with disbelief when he finally parked his car,now sitting in a parking lot of budding memories he just saw the girl he thought he would never meet and yet he couldn’t talk to her . Arriving home he glanced at the dinning as he didn’t see his father when the realization hit him that his father as gone for his yoga classes, he was about going up to the room when the mother called out… Where have you been, Desmond?" she asked, her anger palpable. Desmond tried to brush it off, "I was out, I went to a party, had a few drinks, and ended up staying over." But his mother cut him off, her voice firm. "Don't lie to me Desmond, you weren't with bella and I hope you weren't with another woman. You're betrothed to Bella, and you need to remember that." Desmond had forgotten all about his arranged engagement to Bella. "I can marry whoever I want," he retorted, his mother's words sparking defiance. But she stood firm, her eyes flashing. "No, you can't, Desmond. Not unless it's someone better than Bella." With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Desmond feeling frustrated and trapped. Desmond felt a surge of resentment towards his mother and the arranged marriage she had planned for him. He didn't want to be tied down to someone he didn't love, especially not when his heart seemed to belong to someone else. He reflected on what he found interesting in her, the way she had laughed and the way she had looked at him, then the moon beams. There was something in their last encounter which made him feel that it was indeed worth fighting for. He went to his room after the departure of his mother and changed his clothes, drove to work somewhere deeper in thought concerning Freya. As he entered office, he was welcomed by his workmates’ ‘good mornings’ directed to him: ‘Good morning sir!’ and they all got busy with their work. He made his way upstairs to his office and tried to get his work done but he did find his thoughts wandering towards Freya. Visions of her smile and her laughter together with sparkling eyes lingered in his mind for far too long for him to remain focused. In the end, succumbing to his inquisitiveness, he placed a call to his personal assistant, Nam. “Nam, could you help me with something important ? I am trying to get information on a girl named Freya. His intervention was efficient as always: “Right away sir, how can I assist you?” Desmond wondered how much he ought to tell him, “I don't know..... basically anything that you managed to find out her .” Where she works, what she does.… He tried to sound casual, but his assistant's knowing looks made him wonder if he was being too obvious. After a few minutes of anticipation, Nam's response was prompt, as always. "Sir, I've managed to uncover some information on a girl name freya and I hope she is the one you seek . An image popped out on the screen as the name was written freya james, he smiled as he knew her last name, freya james. Sir!, Nam called out to his boss and he continued giving the information, “It appears she works as a cook at Dishie Restaurant, a popular eatery in the city. Moreover, her brothers are newly employed there as well, serving as store assistants. It's a family affair, it seems." Desmond's eyes lit up with excitement as he processed the information. He couldn't believe how quickly Nam had managed to dig up details on Freya. He felt a surge of gratitude towards his efficient assistant. "Thank you, Nam. You' have been very helpful. I appreciate your swift work on this," Desmond said, his voice filled with appreciation. Nam smiled, his expression proud. "It's my pleasure, sir. I'm always happy to assist you in any way I can." Desmond nodded, his mind already racing with plans to visit Dishie Restaurant. He couldn't wait to see Freya again. He felt a sense of excitement building up inside him, a thrill that he hadn't experienced in a long time. "I'll take it from here, Nam. You've done an excellent job. I'll make sure to keep you updated on any developments," Desmond said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. Nam nodded, his expression understanding. "Of course, sir. I'll be here if you need anything else. Good luck with your endeavors." He couldn't believe he had stumbled upon her workplace so easily. He felt a surge of excitement at the prospect of seeing her again, and his mind raced with possibilities. He could drop by the restaurant, pretend to be a customer, and catch a glimpse of her... or maybe even talk to her. The thought sent a thrill through him, and he couldn't wait to put his plan into action.
