Chapter 16: Bad DogOctober came quickly, and with it, the fall choir concert. I had prepared my students well, and many of my seniors were reveling in the music choices I’d made. The pieces were challenging, but fun to sing.
I made sure to invite Remy, and he said he would be there.
Jody, the band teacher, Nate, the drama teacher, and I had decided to put on a Christmas arts fundraiser for our respective trips to competitions. Soon, the arts hall was filled with the sounds of Christmas music in October.
Benji and some of the other choir students had also continued singing the national anthem at the football and volleyball games whenever our team played at home. And each time, they took a knee before they sang, which continued to draw mixed reactions.
