Finally, we got to work.
“I want to impress Remy with everything I’ve learned from him since I’ve been in counseling,” I explained, sitting by my laptop.
She took a sip of coffee. “I think if you want to impress Remy, you’re not going to. If you try to remember the things he taught you and use those to write your speech or whatever you want to call it, that would be better.”
I frowned. “How are those different?”
She laughed. “Your motivation is different. Instead of writing to impress Remy, you’d be writing to heal and move on. Forward, I mean.”
