The clock on the office wall had barely struck five when Maeve grabbed her designer bag, not even bothering to shut down her computer. She leaned against Cassian’s doorframe, watching him bury his face in a new stack of reports. The lilies from Min-Hee were still in the trash, but the tension they had brought was still lingering in the air like a bad smell. "Babe, I can’t wait for you," Maeve announced, her voice echoing in the quiet suite. "I’m leaving. I’m so hungry that I could actually die right here on your expensive carpet, and that would be a PR nightmare." Cassian looked up, his eyebrows twitching at the nickname.
