Ch17
Just a week before the school farewell, Olivia received an anonymous envelope in her locker.
Inside, there was a photo—an old one. A picture of her as a baby… in Richard’s arms.
There was a note on the back:
“Not all villains are born. Some are broken. I’m sorry for being yours.” — R.C.
For a moment, her heart froze. She hadn’t seen or heard from Richard in months.
She didn’t tell Ryan. She didn’t cry either. She simply stood by the window that night, holding the photo close, whispering to herself:
“I forgive you. Not because you deserve it… but because I do.”
And that forgiveness—quiet, tearless, brave—was what truly set her free.
Only then could she step into the final scene of her story—with peace in her heart and Ryan by her side.
Months passed.
The seasons changed, but Olivia changed —no longer just a girl who had survived pain, but one who had bloomed from it.
Her results had not only topped the school but caught attention beyond. Scholarships, college opportunities, and recognition followed. But what meant the most to her wasn’t the applause. It was peace.
Richard had vanished from their lives. Ryan had quietly ensured he would never step into her world again.
But healing wasn’t fast—it came slowly, in the form of morning coffees with Ryan, quiet study sessions, long walks where they spoke of the past, and even longer silences where they didn’t need to.
One evening, as the sun began to dip, the sky turning a soft pink, Olivia stood by the sea near her home. Ryan stood beside her, the breeze catching his hair.
“Do you still fear… him?” he asked gently.
She shook her head.
“No. I think… I fear nothing now. Not because I’m fearless. But because I’m not alone anymore.”
Ryan smiled, slipped his fingers through hers.
“And you never will be.”
She leaned on his shoulder.
“Thank you for staying.”
“Thank you for letting me.”
As the waves touched their feet and the sky darkened into stars, Olivia closed her eyes—not out of fear, but out of peace.
Because for the first time in forever, her hidden fear had truly faded… and in its place was love.
