"You see, my organization has been facing some challenges lately," he continued. "We have been losing ground to our rivals, and our profits have been shrinking. I believe that we need someone like you, someone who can help us turn things around." Ms. Jones's mind was racing. This was not what she had expected when she agreed to meet with him. She had thought that this was going to be a simple business meeting, but it was starting to feel like something much more. "What would I need to do to help you?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. And then, the man said, "I'll get to that in a moment. First, I want to tell you about the rewards that could be yours if you agree to help us." He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small velvet bag. He placed it on the table in front of them, and then he opened it, revealing a glittering diamond necklace. "This is just a small token of our gratitude," Ms. Jones looked at the diamond necklace, and she couldn't help but feel a little bit tempted. But she knew that there was more to this than met the eye. "What's the catch?" she asked. "What do you want from me in return?" "Nothing more than your loyalty and your discretion," the man said. "But let me be clear - this is not a decision to be taken lightly. "I am offering you a chance to join a powerful and influential organization," the man said. "But it is not a decision to be made lightly. Once you join us, there is no going back. You will be bound by our rules and our code of conduct. Are you sure you are ready for that?" Ms. Jones hesitated, her mind racing. She wasn't sure what to do. On the one hand, the opportunity was tempting. But on the other hand, she was worried about what it would mean for her future. "I need some time to think about this," she said. "Of course," the man said. "I would not expect you to make a decision on the spot. But I must warn you, this offer is not open-ended. If you do not decide within a certain timeframe, it will be withdrawn." Ms. Jones felt a knot of panic in her stomach. She didn't know what to do. She didn't want to make a rash decision, but she also didn't want to lose this opportunity. "How much time do I have?" she asked. "You have three days," the man said.
