I sat at the head of the glass table, my fingers folded calmly before me. That particular sitting position wasn't new, except for the fact that five years ago, I would wonder how the meeting would go and how it could benefit him.

My lips curved into a smile. These were the praises I got for that man. Acknowledgments that were supposed to be mine yet he devalued me.
