Chapter 6: THE SURGE/ ENCOUNTER

I heard the bell the second time, I wanted to continue my nap but I remember that I couldn’t take a shower yesterday because of Ariana,

the girl should have been a mermaid and not a witch, only God knows how long she took to shower, wait are there mermaids here too, I guess they are not, I mean they couldn’t be swimming around school with their fishy tail.

I quickly rush to the bathroom to take a very quick shower, by the time the fourth bell rings, I rushed to the walk in closet by the side where I sleep, I found the vamp already in a short and a sport top hugging all her perfectly built body so tight, she has a long beautiful leg there.

I have a long leg too but as long as hers, I wonder if the girl has a blood flowing in her veins, she’s way too pale, beautiful though

When the bell rang the fifth time, I started tieing my sneakers lace, I pull my hair in a ponytail didn’t bother brushing it, I pull on a big pink round neck, am fond of wearing big tees, then I tie it just above my belly button leaving the skin there bare.

Am on a white shorts.

I ransack the closet looking for a face cap and maybe I will see a water bottle, I tends to get dehydrated each time I do any form of exercise, don’t get me wrong I don’t do it often, it not my thing

Are you done, I heard Flora ask when the last bell rang

Yes, I answered when it seems my search for the cap and bottle is going to be futile, I turn back to see Ariana and Catalina by the door all ready, really, the girls are waiting for me, wow

We all set out with other girls, we get to the front of the hostel and it still kind of dark outside, wonder which time they wake us up, we walk for a while before I stop

What Ariana ask when she noticed

Where are we going, we don’t know where the exercise will take place

The scroll, Catalina said suddenly

I have it here, Flora said

Where I ask cause there’s nothing in her hand

In here she said pointing to her brain

We all look at her like she’s not normal

Ariana scoff, I can’t believe that am paired up with different crazy people

Mind your language Lady Ariana, am not crazy

Then what are you if not crazy, Ariana countered

We know that girl, I said to her

You Ladies must not have done your homework, one of the most unique of our ability as a Casias is a very retentive memory like no other, whatever we see once, we can always remember it exactly has we have seen it, so I have the map on my head

Am sorry Lady Flora, Ariana said with guilt written all over her face, pardon me, I have heard it before that it a very rare ability unique some kinds but I do not know it is the Casias, that means you are a compeller, she ask

Yes I am, Flora reply smiling at Ariana

Have never meet a compeller before, you people have lots of ability, it an honor to meet one in my life time Lady Flora, Catalina said

Oh that why she’s able to get the sound of the bell right too, I remember she said she has a very sensitive ears the day before, these people will never seems to amaze me

So where to, I ask, bringing the girls out of the trance of meeting a compeller or whatever it is in their life time, I wonder which kind of honor that is

This way, we follow those files that are going the right way

We walk for about a minute more before we gets to a large field filled with lots of students both boys and girls, this must be the whole school, that means the seniors are here too, it really a large academy

We saw some students running round the field, some squatting, and doing series of exercise

We heard a whistle and look to the direction, we saw a man in a joggers and a fitted top, he has all the abs in the right place, his six pack very visible under his tees, he has muscles every where

I want all the first year student here, he motioned to his front, we all jogged and run from every angle and corner that we are

Hello students, am Master Luggard, you can call me Master Luga, I am your fitness coach, now this is not like any other sport activity bit a mental and spiritual readiness for your body to start getting use to whichever power or ability that you have, he explained

Good, good he clap his hands and nod his head, I see that this set of first year student are so obedient and intelligent

Now I want you to sit the way am going to sit now on the exact spot you are standing, he said sitting in a yoga position

Wow, is this yoga, I said smiling to myself, now I like this type of exercise not the ones you do and you start heaving up and down trying to catch your breadth and you become all sweaty

We all assume the position with our hands on each of our lap

Raise your head up and sit back, he commanded now moving in between us to correct those that are wrong

Good, good, now students I want you to close your eyes, free your mind of every thoughts, channel your ability to yourself, gradually, exactly he said as if he sees our mind, I wonder if he does

Slowly, he said, channel it, to your body, can you feel it, now imagine the most cruel thing that could happen to you and imagine that your are furious, angry, sad and your power is surging, coming up and running to you

Yes, but you must curb it so it won’t go out if hand, channel that power surge to your self, let it radiate and feel your whole body, and become one with it,

it is when you become one with your power and ability that you will be able to use it well and it will not consume you

Can you feel it, he ask, are you feeling the surge

I close my eyes and concentrate, I don’t know why am concentrating am not the type that do so, anyways let’s see why am here maybe if I don’t feel anything they will send me home and ……………..

Wait, what the f…., I could feel my body vibrating, no I think am literally shaking, what is happening to me,

I tried to stop shaking but I could not, is like my body is no longer my own, do I really have some magical powers like……..

Wait right there Michelle, powers, powers huh, I remember the last one on one conversation I had with my mom when we get home from school trying to move again before the whole façade, she said “ calm down Michelle we don’t want your power getting out of hand”,

I didn’t think much of it because I did not have the time to, that’s the first time she had say that, am I even human, I ask

No mademoiselle you are not, you are far from being human my dear, I heard the sweetest voice have ever heard say to me

Who is that, I ask to no one in particular with my eyes still close

It me dumbass, the voice say again

I open my eyes and look around for the voice but everyone around me has their eyes closed, I look to my side and found Catalina with her hair standing on edge and blowing behind her as if she’s standing beside a blowing fan, the way the fan of an helicopter will blow your hair is a more precise way to describe her right now

I wonder what is happening to her, a girl in front of Ariana is speaking gibberish because I don’t understand the language she speaks, what is happening to these people

Worry about yourself silly, I heard the voice again

Okay I think am going crazy now for real, I look around again

Am here, Michelle am here, the voice said again sounding tired of calling to me, it the voice of a young boy

Am not a young boy but a young man, he said again

What the f…..k, I look around frantically

Am here in your front close to your leg, he said

I look down in front of me and there’s nothing there, it just a green grass there

Okay fine am on your lap now, he said

Oh sh…t, I quickly stand on my feet dusting away an imaginary boy or man or whatever it is from my lap

Ouch, uh hu, you threw me down Michelle I almost lost my leg, the thing said again

Am not a thing silly, he reply

I jump up, holding my hair in frustration, I think am going crazy I said out loud now,

I saw Master Luga walking towards me, with Flora and the girls asking if I was okay

I……

Suddenly we hear a cracking sound, what was that, everyone look to the sound including me forgetting my trouble for a while

The cracking continues and a painful cry follows,

we are moving closer to the sound to see what is happening when Master Luga ask all of us to move back

Move back students, move back, he shouts

We are move back and stood still

In front of us is a very handsome boy in pain has his bone c***k, breaks and elongate, first is his hands, then legs, and neck

Master Luga together with another teacher whom we don’t know if when he arrive are now blocking our view more like shielding us

Oh my goodness, what is happening to him, is he going to die, I ask with tears already streaming down my face, I can’t bear the pain even though am not the one feeling it

He’s going to shift for the first time, Ariana answered

Shift?, What’s that

He’s a wolf who is shifting for the first time, she reply

But wolves shift at age 16, what is a 16 year old doing here, Catalina ask

On very rare occasion they might not shift at 16, Ariana explained

What are they saying, a wolf!!!

The boy gave a last cry before his whole body changes, and in front of me is a big brown wolf, he has white and black stripe from under his belly to parts of it’s leg, it has a very beautiful golden eyes which seems to be…..

Wait is it looking at me, I must be mistaken, am the one looking at it, not the other way round, I can’t believe myself using it for the boy in front of me

Will he ever change back, I ask

Yes he will, the girls all chorus

I heave a sigh of relief, I can’t imagine that precious handsome boy remaining that way for life

But he’s beautiful though, I said to myself, well am crazy I know, saying a wolf is beautiful

His wolf is beautiful, I heard Flora say, like Flora the mannerism lady, am not crazy then

Yes, he is, the other two girls say

Master Luga and the other teacher guide the wolf out of the field, he kinds of look back at me again, but am sure am seeing things

We heard the bell

Time to go freshen up for our first day, Flora said

The sun is coming up already by the time we walk back to our hostel .
