Chapter 10 Jay A month later I peel the liner from the warm cupcake and take my first bite of it. Divine, I tell myself, gazing at the familiar outlook of my backyard, a landscape of native palms and pines with a shimmering pool in its midst. Despite the expansive kitchen diner having hosted many ostentatious parties through the years, the décor that surrounds me is minimalist. I’m no fan of crystal chandeliers and chenille armchairs. Exposed brick walls, inky greys and clean metal lines dominate my space.
