POV: Dinah I don't look back at the man on the floor. I don't ask if he is dead or alive because I don't care. I follow Cade into the elevator, and the doors slide shut and the silence is heavy. We drive back to the estate in silence. The Pack House is waiting for me. It looms in the dark like a stone beast. "Your room is ready," Cade says when we walk inside. "Second floor. End of the hall." He doesn't walk me up. He signals for an Omega to take my bag, and then he disappears into his office. The room is huge. It has a four-poster bed and a bathroom with a marble tub and a window that looks out over the forest. It is beautiful but it feels like nothing but a luxurious cage.
