POV: Dinah I follow Cade back into the room and the silence stretches between us like a taut wire that might snap at any moment. As soon as Cade sets Leo down on the bed, settling him against the plush pillows, the boy immediately reaches his small, pale arms out toward me. "Mommy, hug," he demands with a soft whimper that tugs directly at my heartstrings. Cade sighs and crosses his arms over his chest, saying mildly, "You have been held all day, Leo.
