POV: Dinah “I’m sorry,” I don’t move. I know what he thinks of me. Why he thinks of me that way. If only he knows how wrong he is “That was careless of me. It won’t happen again.” His gaze remains unpleasant, his voice devoid of warmth. “You’ve never taken care of a pup before so I can understand if there is no instinct. But he is Fading, Dinah. If you had shown even a fraction of the care you showed for that check four years ago, you wouldn’t have made such a mistake.” The insult stings. He still believes I sold Leo. He still believes I am a monster. I lower my head. “You’re right. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” Cade doesn't look at me again. He turns and goes back into the room. The door remains open.
