POV: Dinah
Cade stops at the doorway of the living room and Mara stands up instantly like she is pulled by a string.
"Cade I'll walk you out," she says and her voice is breathless.
"No need," he says and his tone is calm and distant and cold. "You came to see the Luna, so stay and keep her company."
He turns to leave but then he pauses and looks back.
"Dinah," he says. "Walk with me."
I freeze.
I look at him and I feel my heart stumble in my chest because I wasn't expecting him to call me.
I glance at Mara instinctively and I see the crack in her mask.
She didn't expect it either but her smile stays on her face but it looks stiff and painful like it's glued there. I can smell the burning scent of ozone coming off her and I know she is jealous.
