Knock. Knock
"Young lady, are you awake now?"
Shania's forehead creased when she heard a familiar voice every morning. It was familiar, but at the same time, it was not. Shania weakly opened her eyes, shielding her eyes from the warm sunlight hitting her face. She wanted to sleep more but the knocking outside her door made it hard to sleep.
A moan slipped past her lips and her brows furrowed at the familiarity of the window.
"Weird."
She mumbled as she looked around, only to be baffled at the entire design of the room. Her mind momentarily went blank as she tried to recall what happened before she slept. After work, she remembered reading a novel on her computer. It was an advertising novel that she accidentally clicked and opened. Upon reading the title of the book she was tempted and read it until she finished the whole story.
After reading the novel My Campus Sweatheart for two hours, she fell asleep due to tiredness. She couldn't remember sleeping in her own room. Well, in fact, this room is totally not hers. The last memory she had is sleeping in her own office after reading.
"This is getting weirder," She thought.
She looked around once again, feeling nervous. She pushed herself to sit up while scratching her temples. There was no computer on her left side and even the location of her window was not the same. Her room color is neutral, while this room has totally the vibe of a rich-girl spoiled princess.
"Am I still dreaming? Did someone kidnap me?"
She wondered, pinching her cheeks to test if she was dreaming.
"Ouch." She winces in pain.
"So, I'm not dreaming? What the! Who kidn*pped me!?" She screamed.
The maid outside heard the young lady's screaming and became agitated. She didn't want to wake the young lady because she knew her temper. But she is more than afraid to lose her job. The older masters will give her a hard time. All she can do is listen and follow its orders.
The maid gulped and decided to knock again.
"Young lady?"
She asked again in her soft voice but didn't open the door.
Shania tilted her head to the side, staring at the door vigilantly. She doesn't have maids in her own house. So, who is she? Did my mom secretly put maids in her house?
Ugh! She never listens. Shania thought.
She gazed down, lifting the sheet away to get up. Her mind was full of questions. Moving her legs to face the mirror on the vanity table. She scanned her face. But a second later, Shania's expression turned cold.
"This... is.."
Her eyes landed on the vanity mirror. A woman, no– a young lady, was standing in front of her. She touched her face slowly while staring ghastly at the person staring back at her and doing the same thing. Her body becomes small. Her usual red hair becomes hazel brown in color. Olive eyes that matched with a narrow nose and plump lips. Even her voice changed into a young and tender sweet. The overall appearance of this face is beautiful. Although she appeared to be around nineteen, her beauty would surely attract everyone's attention.
This is not me!
Although this person is pretty, she is more gorgeous than this new face. Still, she appreciates this young lady's uniqueness. Staring at this face gives her goosebumps.
And Shania, being smart, already has a hunch about what's happening. She might be transmigrated or someone's exchanged her soul for someone. If she transmigrated, then she died. If someone exchanges her soul, then what kind of sorcery is that?
But what are the possible causes? Did someone kill her in her sleep or did she die because of fatigue?
Shania only sighed in distress and sat on the bed.
"The second reason is, I think it's the cause and now this is the effect." She just mumbled and closed her eyes.
She remembers pounding herself on at work and only taking a nap when there's a chance. Being a workaholic is tiring, but for her, that's how she lived.
Making more money even though she was tired of it.
But who is this young lady?
"Oh right. Someone is calling her..err..it's me now, I guess." She turned to look at the door.
She walked and placed a hand on the doorknob before opening it. When the door was opened, she saw a maid wearing a typical maid's outfit. The maid was trembling with fear and tried not to look at her eyes. The maid bows and speaks with her head down.
"Young lady, I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep but the masters want your presence in the dining room," the maid said.
Shania could tell the maid was nervous because of her. She shrugged both of her shoulders before answering. A cold voice slips into her mouth.
"I'll go down after washing."
The maid slightly raised her head and smiled apologetically. After that, she shut the door abruptly and walked to the bathroom.
She didn't want to be rude to the poor maid who was just following orders, but she couldn't help acting like a boss. To add things, she also felt that this young lady's physique was quite familiar. Cold and intimidating. After washing her face and making herself comfortable. Shania changed her clothes into a normal white dress.
She was happy to wear something thick and comfy, again.
And she liked the new wardrobe in front of her. Well, after becoming a Ceo in the business world. Shania changed her style into neutral-color conservative suits and just often wears dresses. Only when she attends parties and gatherings does she hype it up.
After changing, she left the room. While walking downstairs, Shania couldn't help but praise the design of the house. This house was much bigger than hers and very luxurious. Though, she can afford to buy a house like this. She still prefers to live a simple life.
She still couldn't get the answer as to how she got into this body. Whether she's really dead or not, if it's true she won't complain.
The girl is beautiful and rich. She can still live in luxury and relaxed.
After she arrived at the dining table, she found three people waiting for her silently. A couple and an old man.
Are they relatives of the owner's body? Shania thought.
Her lips twitched a little. Shania grew up not smiling, so she didn't know how to greet them. She didn't know what kind of girl this girl had. So, she just greets them causally with a low voice.
"Good morning." She said.
