Hawaiian stunt kite
A maneuverable two line kite that fights to soar free.
“Wow, Zader!” Char Siu said, eyes wide. “Is that kite yours?”
“Yeah.”
“For your birthday?”
“Yeah.” I pointed with my chin. “Jay got a surfboard. I got a stunt kite.”
“Can see?” I nodded, and she carefully brought it out from under the table, making sure the tips didn’t bend or scratch. “Small.”
“It’s a one-quarter Hawaiian,” I said.
Char Siu turned it over and held it up to the sun. “I’ve never seen a one quarter-Hawaiian stunt kite before. I didn’t know they made them.”
“Uncle Kahana knows a guy who custom made it for me.”
Even a half-sized Hawaiian stunt kite was too much for most thirteen-year-olds. In a strong breeze, a half-Hawaiian would lift me right off the ground. I imagined what that
