Chapter 31: A relationship deepens even more

1798 Words

'I know that my career and my love of work hasn't helped my personal life,' Debra said sadly, 'my husband wasn't a bad person but he really did expect me to give everything up and don an apron and be there every night cooking his dinner. It's just not me. I'm not the domesticated type. I wish I could be but I'm so involved with my clients, my writing and research. This book I'm writing is important to me. I want to get all my thoughts, musings and life experience into it.' Martin was distracted by the idea of Debra in an apron and little else but made no comment, just looked sympathetic. They were taking a stroll along the seafront at Heraklion while having this discussion. Debra had just come back from a few days in Athens, working and researching at the beautiful National Library there.
