CHAPTER FIVE: THE UNEXPECTED

“ Hello Maryjane, how are you? Am in a meeting right now can I call you later “ victor answered the phone

“ you will find me at your office ! Surprise !! “

Maryjane walked straight into the victor's office and sat down waiting for him to come out of the boardroom .

She opened some papers that were on the table . Looked through them and left them there .

She then sat and rolled on victors chair . Going through her phone waiting for victor to finish his meeting .

“ Must be someone important. He never answers his phone in the middle of the meeting . Whoever it is, I am glad she called , and saved me .” thought Selina .

“ I keep acting like am used to nightstands but deep down I can’t stop thinking of the night I had with victor . I wish to talk to him about it but I guess he will find me old fashioned. Let me just keep acting like it never happened”

The meeting was over ,0 everyone got back to their usual working places . Victor went back to his office embracing his friend Maryjane . They made stories while catching up .

“So how was school ? Am glad you finally graduated MJ, your dad must be very happy to have you back ”

“ Only my dad ? Ain’t you ? Have I not become more beautiful” Maryjane asked victor as she did a 360 in front of victor .

“ haha yes yes you have . You have not changed even a bit !

Do you remember back in school when that girl in 11th grade had the same shoes with you? You hid hers into the science labs so she couldn’t wear them on the next day ? You were so childish back then”

“ stop teasing me victor . What about you. You had a fight with your teammate because he lied to the teacher about you not wanting to cooperate in the group discussion ? You were a snitch ”

“ wait , that was very resonable ! Why would he lie ? He always wanted me to look inferior to him , both at practice and during class works . Everybody knew he was nothing compared to me .”

“ no wonder you have no friends except me “

“ I have one I guess ” victor said while smiling

“ it was hard for me to adopt to the office when I came but am glad I had someone so good at her job to help me through “

With victor saying this , it clicked back on Maryjane’s mind about the other night. She wanted to ask victor about it but she hesitated.

“ I have to look for her first before starting a war . Might be too soon anyways . I’ll have to push my dad to have dinner with victors dad and him and bring this up .” She thought

Selina had some errands to run for victor so she left the office a little bit early.

Days passed by , Selina and victor came to get close to each other . They always exchanged looks whenever they met or were working together . Sometimes they had dinner at the office while working late together .

Although they never spoke about the amazing night they shared together two weeks ago , you could tell they were both interested in each other . Both of them worried to bring that up yet wishing they had a night like that again.

“ My periods are later than usual. Bes , it’s been two weeks and some days . You know they are never late “

“ I am sure they will just come along . It’s been long since you had a relationship and you never sleep around with people so you’re definitely not pregnant . Relax Bes “

Selina was having a conversation with her best friend Vanessa over the phone . Deep down she knew she might really be pregnant. With victor's child of course .

“ I can’t be this unlucky . O my God just one night stand ! This can’t be happening . I know I'm starting to get closer to victor . But what if he doesn’t want this baby . What if he says it’s not his ? His family will never accept me as their in-law am just a mere secretary compared to them .”

Thoughts were running through Selina’s mind . She was having mixed feelings .

Whether to be happy that she was caring for the baby of a man she loved or to be sad about it since she knew there was no way the world would acknowledge this . They would say she seduced Victor into this .

“ Since I am close to Victor now , I’ll try to pop out the story about him having a family and see how he would react .” She thought

At the office , Selina arrived and was heading to victor office room to greet and present to him the work schedule for the day as usual .

She normally has everything plannned for him . All the meetings , who is he going to meet , what will it be about , where will that be and for how long will the meetings take .

Victor trusted Selina with her handling some meetings that he thought weren’t necessary or wouldn’t need his attention or presence .

And Selina could handle them perfectly!

As she was about to open the office door , she heard victor arguing with a lady inside

“ why should we marry each other while we are not even in love . I want to marry when am ready . Matter of fact it won’t be even soon . I also have my eyes on someone already . Come on Maryjane , we’re like brother and sister here “

“ You definitely know that I have had feelings for you since 6th grade . I worked so hard in school so I could lead our company the same as you lead yours . These two companies can be the largest clothing brands in the whole of LA and abroad . You motivated me to open up a boutique store on the hotel lounges . We are so alike victor , can’t you even see ! Were a match made in heaven ! . I want you and I love you! Please let me learn to love you , let me teach you to love me too . Please victor , think about it ! If it’s not you I don’t want anybody else !” Maryjane shouted as she madly walked through the exit door

Selina’s feet began to lose strength . She felt her heart break and shutter into pieces . ”The time has finally come for me to wake up from the dream I have been having about victor . How could I forget my place this quick. I am so stupid . As if I never knew this time would finally come . Am already catching feelings for him and I think it’s finally time for me to wake up ! My heart aches . It burns for him . What if I am really carrying his baby ? Lord am trapped . I can’t even walk away from this door . O my God someone is opening the door and I can’t even move my feet . LORD!”

What will happen to Selina who is stuck at the door ?

Would Maryjane open the door and recognize Selina ?

Would Selina be able to run before mary jane busted the door open ?

Would she be able to tell victor about the child she was carrying ?

Would she fight for her feelings towards victor or let him go and stand at her place as a no one !?
