Seated in the posh office of the law firm, Fredrick and I pored over documents for the defamation case against Reina. Our attorney had stepped out momentarily, leaving us alone to reflect on the progress we had made.
As I absentmindedly tapped my pen on the table, memories of a peaceful day with Kairo and the twins flooded my mind. A small smile crept onto my face as I remembered how surprisingly well-behaved Kairo had been while helping Martha make breakfast.
Fredrick cleared his throat, interrupting my thoughts. "You seem to be in good spirits today," he observed curiously.
I looked up, my smile widening. "Yeah, things have been going well lately. Kairo and I actually get along now, which is more than I could have hoped for a few weeks ago."
