I stormed out of the courtroom, high heels clicking against the spotless floor. My blood boiled at each step, Maria's words resonating within my ears. She had made me look like the villain. Her perfect little speech about betrayal and motherhood had tugged at the judge's heartstrings, but I knew what to believe. She was just as manipulative as the rest of us, hiding behind her innocent facade while she destroyed Kairo's life and pretended to play the victim.
