Maria's Point of View
It was a crisp morning as I walked the twins to daycare. Small hands held mine, and down the sidewalk, we took, punctuated by their giggles breaking the silence between us. It was these moments-the innocence of the tone, wide-eyed wonder of two young souls examining the world-that I found my strength. Yet, with each step closer to the entrance of daycare, I couldn't help but notice that same tension began to crawl its way back in.
I hadn't heard from Kairo since our little talk, and as much as I appreciated the space, I knew it was a question of time before he showed up again, pushing for more time with Floyd. I needed to prepare myself for that battle, ready or not.
We reached the entrance, and I bent down to kiss each of them on the forehead.
