Maria's Point of View Onions and bacon were filling the kitchen with their smell as I flipped pancakes on the stovetop. It was still early, barely 7 a.m., and the twins were all sleeping up above. The stillness of the morning had afforded me this unusual time to think, to breathe. Since that threatening text from Reina had come last night, I hadn't slept much. I spent many sleepless hours turning over and over what was said, but I knew I still had to keep moving on. Kairo would be coming by soon to take the twins to daycare.
