Maria’s Point of View
I could clearly see the surprise in his eyes because of what I said. He stared at me as if he was analyzing me for a long time, then slowly furrowed his brow and I couldn't read his eyes, a mix of wonder and amazement in them.
"You're still persistent, aren't you?" he said calmly, taking a shallow breath. "We're already divorced and there's no chance of us getting back together. You know the real reason I agreed to that marriage. It was all for my grandparents and nothing more. Don't get your hopes up."
"I know!" I replied confidently. As if I wouldn't know that! But I continued, "But we did enjoy each other's company once, right? You have to admit that four years ago, you were content with me! You were great in bed too, even though we only did it once during our marriage!"
My heart was racing. I was saying this not because I wanted to, but because I knew he despised women who made advances. I was sure he would get angry soon and probably kick me out. This was the only way I knew to leave.
He looked at me again, but this time, with a hint of confusion in his eyes, as if he was restraining himself. After a few moments, he closed his eyes and opened them again, this time filled with disgust. "Shameless! You haven't changed since four years ago, Lucy!"
Lucy…
Only he called me by that name, and every time I heard his voice calling me by that name, I couldn't help but feel a shiver down my spine as if he was whispering it to me. But it's all over.
Maria Lucy, the one who once truly loved him is gone. He changed me. He changed my heart.
I slowly walked towards his position, surprising him with my sudden approach. He didn't say anything, just watched me intently, as if trying to decipher what had happened in my life after our divorce. His eyes spoke volumes, questioning everything, but I knew that with just one blink, all those emotions would vanish into thin air, like a bubble.
I didn't want to fall into those eyes again. Eyes that held no certainty.
But as I gradually brought my face closer to his, my heart started pounding loudly because he still hadn't pushed me away! I was afraid that if I got any closer, he would hear how loudly my heart was beating!
As our lips were about to touch, I noticed that he had no intention of pushing me away. Quickly, I straightened myself up and gave him a sweet smile. "Alright. I want 100 million dollars. You can give it to me, right?"
His forehead furrowed even more due to my actions, but he didn't show any anger towards me. Instead, he took out a check, swiftly signed it, and handed it to me. "Here's what you asked for, and there's only one thing I want, don't ever show up in front of me again!"
ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS
I stared at the check in my hands, feeling like I wanted to jump for joy! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would earn this much money just because of a scandal I didn't even commit, but took responsibility for due to the inevitable situation!
"Okay, thank you Mister Thompson," I said happily.
I placed the check in my bag and took a deep breath. Maybe before, I wouldn't have cared about this money, but now the situation is different... because I need this money for my two children. I'll just think of it as child support from him.
"Make sure you delete the copy of the picture! I've already removed it from all over the internet and if it spreads again, I'll blame you!" His warning was stern.
"Yes, yes, don't worry, I'll delete it." I pretended and opened my phone, pretending to delete something before showing it to him. "See? It's deleted now."
He stared at my phone screen for a long time as if he saw something there, and when I remembered I didn't delete some pictures of my twin children, I quickly put my phone back in my bag and turned away quickly. I hope he doesn't doubt or think anything...
"Alright, Mister Thompson, we are clear to each other now. I have things to do! Goodbye!" I said and waved at him as I left.
As I walked out, I opened my phone again and looked at the pictures, feeling a rush of anxiety in my chest when I saw many pictures there that I didn't hide when I showed my screen to Kairo.
In the midst of my anxiety and thoughts, I was almost about to scream in surprise when someone bumped into me. When I looked up, I was shocked to see Reina Williams, my ex-husband's childhood friend.
Her eyes widened in surprise as soon as she laid eyes on me. She was wearing a stunning red dress paired with a Chanel bag, while I stood there in a plain floral dress and a cheap bag, feeling completely inadequate compared to her.
"Maria? What on earth are you doing here?!" she asked, her tone aggressive.
I straightened my posture and raised an eyebrow. "I fail to see the problem. How is it that you're allowed here and I'm not?"
"You're such a low-class woman! Are you here to sell yourself to Kairo again?" she shouted at me.
"Why are you so threatened by my presence, Reina?" I calmly asked.
I've never liked this woman from the start. If it weren't for her, maybe Kairo would have learned to love me to some extent. She's the reason why I left this house. Her and my ex-mother-in-law framed me. They're the reason why Kairo believed I cheated on him.
"You are no good, Maria! You're here to ruin Kairo's reputation! I'm sure you're here because you want to get back together with him! Because back then, you thought he would love you because of an arranged marriage, but since your plan failed, you want to try it again!" she fumed, pushing me away.
I smirked at her and closed the distance between us. "Of course, I'm here because the picture is of me and my ex-husband. What do you expect me to do? Don't be so foolish."
"I don't trust you, b***h! Leave Kairo alone! You both are already divorce! He will never love you! You f*****g w***e--"
I didn't let her finish speaking and forcefully pushed her into the water fountain where she fell and got wet. I watched her angrily emerge from there, her red cheeks clearly showing her anger.
"What the hell did you do, you f*****g b***h!"
"Cleaning your mouth." I grinned. "It looks like your mouth needs a little cleaning because too much filth is coming out. You should also try rinsing your personality, maybe your dark conscience will become clean too."
For four years, I harbored anger because of what they did to me, but now that I can stand on my own and I have children who need my strength, I will never allow them to do to me what they did before.
Despite Reina's anger towards me, a familiar voice shattered the tension between us. "Maria, what have you done?!"
I didn't need to look to know who it was because I was sure that only one person would tolerate this woman, and that's my mother-in-law, the one who framed me.

Kairo’s Point of View
I was not fond of remembering things like names, places because I was not interested, especially the scent of perfume but her fragrance, I still remember her scent from four years ago until now, no difference.
In four years, nothing had changed about her. She remained youthful-looking that whoever saw her, no one would assume she was a divorced woman. I couldn't deny that with her appearance, many would still flock to her and desire her.
"Yes, yes, don't worry I'll delete it," she said and showed her gallery to me.
I scanned her phone to make sure there were no more photos, and while checking it thoroughly, my eyes landed on a photo of two children, I stared at them for a long time. I was about to examine it further, but I couldn't because Lucy quickly returned her phone to her bag.
She quickly bid goodbye and left in front of me as we agreed that once she got the money, she wouldn't show up in front of me again. But I remained frozen, my mind stuck in the photos I saw and I couldn't erase them from my mind.
Could it be that she remarried and had children? For some unknown reason, it felt like a small hand pinched my chest and wanted to know the answer to my question.
But how? She left and I myself said I didn't want to see her anymore.
I pondered for a long time and I didn't want to have no answers to the questions swirling in my mind. I immediately called my assistant. "Leo, I want to know what happened in Lucy Hills' life in the past four years."
"Sir...?" He answered in confusion.
"The woman who entered here minutes ago. My ex-wife."
